Lonely Planet Cambodia: Detailed Itineraries | Travel Like a Local | Insider Tips | Covers Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Angkor Temples, South Coast, Eastern Cambodia, and more (Travel Guide) Review: Cambodia - A few shops mentioned are no longer in existence. Review: Unsatisfying and disappointing - I am extremely disappointed with this guide. Lonely Planet for so many years was and still is the only travel guide that I would rely on. They were detailed, comprehensive, locally-grounded, and had excellent recommendations for off the beaten path travel. It was an actual travel guide, it wasn't something for tourists. This is not a Lonely Planet guide. It's way too general, has a poor level of detail, and is not organized in a similar way that the previous guides are. I regret buying this -- I would instead buy an earlier version of this guide that has the comprehensive detail. I don't know if LP got bought out or corporatized, but this just reads like another fluffy Froder's travel guide or a pamphlet you get at the airport. Don't buy this -- try to buy an older version for the comprehensive detail. I used to be able to only rely on an LP guide and get everything that I needed to know about a place. I've literally worn older guides down to the spine! I really really hope they revert back to their original products.

Wow, what happened to LP?
Wow, who produced this and what did they do with Lonely Planet? After decades of using LP guidebooks to plan travel on four continents, I’m done if they stick with this new format. As others have said about this guidebook and other recent LP efforts, the new format is a confusing mess with little of the important details pertinent to travelers and which were an LP trademark. It’s a glossy overview without prices, contact info, websites, addresses, etc. Their list of lodging and eating options is meager and insufficient. They seem to be saying we now have to search for them online. If so, why bother with this shell of a guidebook? RIP Lonely Planet. You're now dead to me.

New format needs to be abandoned
The new format that Lonely Planet has adopted is ineffective confusing. There aren’t enough maps or highlights of places to visit. Lonely Planet should go back to their traditional format which has worked for decades.

Bitte weiter so Lonely Planet!
