Black & Decker GC200B Gizmo Electric Can Opener, Black

I love my Gizmo! I had one for over 30 years and it finally bit the dust. I was afraid they didn't make them any more and tried other openers. I found they wouldn't open some cans, were too large or too awkward to use. I was very happy to find the Gizmo on Amazon. They are small enough to store in a drawer or leave on the counter. The price is worth every penny. They last for years and if you have trouble opening cans this is the opener for you. The cutting edge can be put in the dishwasher so it is easy to clean.

I had one for over 10 + yrs, till my Step Daughter through it away because it turned kinda yellow............... Wanted to through her out next............It still worked like new. So I am hoping this one will be as good. It would open anything. Needless to say I love this product to anyone out there. It is worth 10 times the price. I am a 66 yr old Vet and my hands don't work as well as they did, so this is a Gods send for me to have in my can opening tools..thank you Gizmo.

We got this gadget three months ago because my wife has limited right hand grasp and can't use a manual can opener. Pros: Our Gizmo has opened many a can since, from small to large. The trick for us is to position the Gizmo on larger cans, turn it on and let it "walk" itself around- smaller cans may have to be held. The charge has lasted for weeks on the average. Cons: Though the blade looks rather cheesy, it has done well so far... the only defect we have noticed is the Gizmo and associated charger's size- they are bulky and don't fit easily into normal kitchen drawers (ergo, four stars). Nonetheless, it is an easy decision for us- the Gizmo stays! A year-plus later (May 2004,) this Gizmo still works like new, with at least daily use. I like it, and my wife is very pleased with it's easy-to-use functionality and its ergonomic fit in her hand. (Tip: When it begins to run down, we turn it on until it is fully discharged before putting it on its charging base - with NiCd batteries, this will prevent your battery form developing a "false memory" and not charge fully.)

Well worth the cost. Easy to use, hanging or remotely. As good as the first one we had for twenty years.

The Gizmo works somewhat well, but can be hard to start on the lip of the can, and most of the time, when it's through, and U lift the arm to remove the can lid, the little arm w/the magnet wants to pop off. Slight bit of nusance. Also, unless it's always plugged in, resulting in an absolutely full charge, she will get a bit 'sleepy' after about the third can.Bought it for someone who has limited hand mobility, and she is unable (most of the time) to even load the Giz-no on to the lip. Resulting in me opening the can anyway, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid. I rate this as an 'Okay' item.

Bought as a gift for my parents, specifically my mom. She had carpal tunnel surgery many years ago. She has no grasping strength. This Gizmo makes opening cans easy and quick. The lids have smooth edges so She won't cut herself. It is rechargeable which is a big plus. You won't be disappointed.

I ordered one of the Black & Decker GC200 GIZMO Can Openers from Amazon on Nov 15, 2015 (one year and 2 weeks from writing the review), I plugged the GIZMO in and charged it overnight. Using my charged GIZMO I was able to open a few cans. I placed my charged GIZMO in my kitchen drawer, about 2 weeks later I tried using my GIZMO to open a can. The GIZMO was no longer charged, nothing, it would not open a can and it was not charged. I plugged it back into the wall, attempting to re-charge the unit, and tried using it to open a can the next morning. Nothing happened. I tried charging the GIZMO for 48 hours, tried opening a can, nothing. This was a complete waste of my $75.00 (price at the time of my purchase). PLEASE, do not waste your money on this product. IMO the item is too old, the battery no longer works, and most likely none of the batteries on any of these units will work. This unit was made over 15 years ago and the battery was never intended to last 15 years. Amazon should remove this item from their inventory as they do not work. The only option would be if the seller were to replace all rechargeable batteries and offer a new warranty on units with replaced rechargeable batteries (6 months at minimum), and relist these items are refurbished and working. Until the units are refurbished, DO NOT PURCHASE. BUYER BEWARE. God bless

I bought my first Gizmo in 1987!!!!! YES!! 1987. This one JUST replaced that one!!!!! And that one was still working, albeit very slow. Just can't hold the charge any more. I love my Gizmo!!!!! They better not stop making these because I'll need another in about 30 years. LOL
