I've been using this pH thermometer for a variety of projects, and it's proven to be a reliable and versatile tool. I've used it to measure the pH of homemade skincare and moisturizers, and it's also been a great help in my yogurt-making and liquid soap production. Most recently, I used it to test the pH while making hand sanitizer. One of the things I appreciate most is that it holds its calibration well. After testing it in my filtered water, I found the readings to be accurate, and I haven't had to recalibrate it since. It's also very straightforward to use—just press the power button and insert the tip. I've found that it's best to hold the thermometer in the product for about 20 seconds to give the reading time to settle and provide a stable number. The spear-point tip is great for semi-solid items like yogurt or soap, but it works just fine in liquids as well. My only minor point of feedback is about the instructions, which don't specify the accuracy of the temperature measurement (e.g., within 0.1° or 0.2°). While I haven't needed that information for my current projects, it would be useful to have for future reference. Overall, this is a solid and easy-to-use pH meter that has performed well for all my diverse home projects. It's a great tool for anyone who needs to accurately measure pH in a variety of products.

Hard to understand how to use.

This device is extremely easy to use. Press the power button, insert the spear tip into the item being measured and read the pH - Done. It seems to be accurate. I measured it against 3 known pH solutions of different values and it was very close to the known pH. This device works best with solid or semi-solid items, such as cheese or dough. It works fine in liquid as well, but the spear-point tip is designed for piercing. I did have a couple of issues with this device. The first one I got was defective and it took me a while before I realized that the issue was with the device. The pH value did not seem to vary much and when I finally tried calibrating it, it did not work as the instructions stated. Also, the screen was difficult to read. Even though it was backlit, the digits were faded and not uniform overall. I exchanged the defective unit. The new one worked much better, but the display issue was not really much different. This is a very nice pH tester for semi-solid items, such as food and soil. As a liquid measurement device, there are less expensive and less bulky meters out there.

I have used this unit for testing the acidity level of my homemade vinegar and the acidity level of my soil.
