I was recommended to buy this by my chimney sweep as a way to help keep things clean. I'll know in 6 months if its done its job properly. But it is easy to apply, a small scoop with the supplied plastic spoon befor lighting the fire each time. Theres no smell, you really wouldnt know its in the fire.

Keep the chimneys clean until the sweep arrives. Good stuff.

I have an open log fire, burning dry hardwood. I have been using another brand for years but thought I would try this. If anything it works better, I have just swept the chimney and more soot fell off than usual. The great advantage of these products is that the soot turns to granules, similar in texture to granulated sugar which falls to the bootom of the chimney with almost no dust to worry about. I have a fire three nights a week and use this on the last night of burning. The chimney always draws well. I put the powder on the fire when it is low but glowing red, and leave it a while before adding a little more wood which lasts to the end of the night. I am about to order more!

It is hard to assess effectiveness because there is no instant change. But having used one tub over about ten days, the tarry dripping that came down the flue( wood burner stove) has decreased quite a lot. The product is easy to use, no smell or fumes. One thing to remember is to stick to the instruction to use on the fire when it glows red, not when flames are there. I think it is a product that is well worth trying, as it is not expensive, to make it easier to have swept professionally. This was recommends by my chimney sweep for use prior to cleaning.

The product is splendid! It is as the directions say.

Hoping this is doing the same job as the one that used to include copper sulphate, no green glow with this one. Will only know if it has worked when the sweep turns up.
