My first pair
I paid close attention to the other reviews for an accurate size guess and I did well. I am a woman's 8.5 (perfect fit) for a sandal, a womans 10 western boot and a womans 9 in a sneaker because I have a wide foot. I wear a men's 7 (perfect fit) sneaker but have worn a mens 8 wide and snuggled up the laces with an insole inserted. For this experiment with my first pair of toe shoes, the V run retro, I ordered the 7.5-8 option and it fit perfectly in length and width with no room to spare. All of my toes feel comfortable in the shoe except for my big toes which are still growing toenails after losing them during a hiking expedition. It's not the shoes fault that my half grown big toenails are tender when fitted in such a perfect fitting toe shoe. Other than that, they feel perfect. I will wear them around the house to get used to them and when it feels like I can, I will venture out in them. I'm keeping them. I have no intention of returning them and will be interested to see how long their workmanship will last. 1 year later I had to order a size larger which was the 8-8.5 option for the best fit. The 7.5-8 size put my toe too close to the end. I needed some space so one size up from my normal size fit best. I have worn these walking rocks and large boulders as a lifeguard. The grip was exactly what I needed. The barefoot aspect gave me agility. They work great in the water and didnt aggravate when walking in them wet after a save. They dried in the sun well enough but I wouldn't call them "quick drying". I prefer wearing toe socks with them (low ankle) for maximum comfort. They are not for gravel or rough terrain with stickers, glass or anything you wouldn't want to step on barefoot. They are not for that kind of use, but they are great for barefoot situations when you need more grip like wearing a strong rubber sock I tripped while climbing over a large rock and hurt my toe as if wearing nothing at all so don't expect protection in these shoes. Just traction. Nothing more.

Best shoes ever made!
Vibram five fingers shoes in general are the best footwear I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. These are another winner by vibram. In general the vffs take some getting used to on different terrains but after a few months, you will never want to go back to regular shoes. I've been wearing various models for 5 years now 99.9 percent of the time and can recommend. Thanks again vibram!

Order a couple sizes; Vibrams differ in sizing model to model.
My experience: these (i bought the black with lime green) do NOT run the same size as the V-run (non-retro). They are shorter in the toes. I have owned and loved the v-runs in a 42 for over a year now, but in these the 42 was tight-and-short in the toes. Otherwise, they are comfortable shoes and a little "dressier" than the v-runs, with a cloth/canvas material as compared to the silk-glove-like material of the v-run non-retros, i.e. more for around town and less for running in look and material, more of a fall/winter vibram). I also like the bit of extra cushioning under the center of the medial longitudinal arch these have (which my non-retros don't). I returned the 42s and bought 43s which, even though one size larger than my non-retro V-runs, are -- when you hold them up sole-to-sole with the v-runs -- the same length as my v-runs size 42. Lesson learned: all Vibram models are not the same in sizing. A note on the wacky per-color, per-size differential in pricing on these (and a lot of specialty shoes on this site) you may also see: i noticed when first purchasing the 42s that the 43s were about $40 more expensive (same model, same color). I expect Vibram sells its overstock on Am azon(?). However, after returning the 42s and going back to the shoe webpage to consider whether i wanted to invest even more money to get these great shoes in a size that fit, the price of all sizes of this shoe had dropped to the price of the pair i had just returned. Dy nam ic pri cing?

Functional and supportive
If you're familiar with 5 fingers, you know how awesome they are. The retro runner is a staple in my Vibram lineup. Just the right amount of support to wear all day and an attractive design. They arrived quickly and fit perfect. And these shoes are a great value, and are way more durable than they my appear.

Not worth it, wear out SUPER quick
These shoes felt and fit great but not even having them two month, the soles got so much wear that one of the shoes formed a hole that goes right through. These shoes were strictly used for exercise. I was able to track the distance traveled while wearing them and checking over my workout tracker m, these shoes lasted for less then 80 miles. That is absolutely absurd. I have never had shoes wear out that quick, at least with that short of distance. You get better mileage per dollar on a gas guzzling vehicle than these shoes. 20$ is max you should pay for this pair due to their lack of durability. Never buying them again absolutely not worth it unless you want a throw away pair

5 finger shoes are great
These are super great shoes and comfortable. Well made and great colors. I love five finger shoes and this is all I wear. My feet are in great shape and I have no walking issues since wearing this product for over 10 years. Great product. Worth the money. I’d recommend to friends and family.

Great but have issues
I bought a set for my fiancé'. All was good, for the first day. The first pair I bought him went through a week of intermittent wear before a hole appeared on the top of the foot. (not a place known to show wear in any shoe, let alone in the first year.) I returned the pair, and received a new set. All was good. They lasted a month and one day before the inner sole began to separate at the toe from the fabric. This review is a 3 only at his request. I would have merited it far less. At least they lasted more than one week I suppose. These shoes are better than overall sneakers, and my fiancé adores them. He is sad that they don't measure up the way that he remembers. He is beside me ensuring that my review isn't too scathing as he has a love for the company. I for one am not impressed. The shoes are advertised for athletics, and for the price I paid, I would expect them to last longer than my cheap big blue box store tenni's made of foam.
