Easily connects two male DB9 plugs to each other, useful in case there is a mismatch between my computer's male USB-DB9 and an external device also using a male DB9 port.

You're all set to wire up your device, perhaps to a USB-Serial adapter, when you find the DB9s don't mate because they're the same gender.Now of course that's all good in life, but in electronics that can prevent a meaningful coupling from occurring.I discovered my need when connecting an HDMI scaler to an IP-to-serial adapter for purposes of controlling its mode selections remotely. Both the adapter and the scaler had male DB9s.Inserting one of these in the middle solved my problem.If you are working with adapting legacy devices to modern networks, you'll find uses for this item.This model worked great for my purposes, with no gotchas, and at 4 to an order represents a good value.

Worked as expected

This is a four pack of standard F/F changers, which allow you to connect two M type DB9 RS232 cables together to make a longer one, or to connect a M type DB9 cable to a M type DB9 port. They are labeled by the type of the coupler: so to be clear, both things you plug into this coupler need to have M (pin) ends, because this coupler has two F (hole) connectors.I had a whole bucket of these in the '90s, finally got rid of them after a few decades, and suddenly needed them again. Of course. If that's you, this will resupply you with the exact products your local computer shop was selling three decades ago.

I've used serial adapters of all varieties for years, and they can make connecting devices easy or hard. Basic products like this need to hit all the marks, and this one does. There is a lot to like with this F/F DB-9 Gender Changer, including:- Compact size- Well marked as "Gender Changer" (no question of it being a crossover adapter when loose in a bag)- Solid construction and materials- Accurate fit- Screw/Nut assembly can be easily removed (not spot-welded)I have only one recommendation - the title of the product says, "for USB to RS232 Serial Cable Adapter". While that is a common application for a gender changer, it's only one of many, so no need to single out one use case. This could be used to adapt any two male DB-9 connectors, as the description correctly notes.This Gender Changer is all I need in a F/F DB9 adapter. Although I ordered only the 4-pack, I see the price drops significantly with the 10-pack, so this is a great product at a great price!

We were trying to configure a switch in a lab at work last week, and someone had borrowed part of our cable chain for the console. These adapters came in handy for connecting to the switch management port. Each of my team has one in their desk, and I keep one in my laptop bag with a USB-to-serial cable.Not much interesting to say - they do what they should.One note is that they come with both sides of the screw/nut and you'll likely need to remove one side to connect it to your adapter, cable, or device. It was easy enough to remove with my fingers, no pliers or other tools needed.

Great being able to access old switches that has com connection. I had the cables but always had the wrong gender on the cable end.

If you need to interface with legacy electronics, this is a great thing to have in your tool box of tricks. Serial communication is still widely used on so many installed industrial equipment, and such equipment needs to be serviced. This connector can save your day or can just make things neat since you can replace a whole straight through DB9 female to female cable. If you are reading this, that means you need it so just buy it.

Worked well with an FTDI rs232 to usb.
