This was my first model, ever. After some research, I decided that the Bandai models sounded simple enough to dip my toe into the world of modeling. In total, it probably took me 4–5 hours. I'm glad I started with this model because it didn't require painting, but I still learned a lot in the process. I actually ripped several of my decals and had some trouble with the model, but that was due to my own inexperience and not any fault of the manufacturer. I'll share my thoughts about the model itself, and then some tips about what I would have done differently. Good things about this model: — It's a little bit smaller than I thought, but still looks good once assembled. — Very accurate! Looks just like the character. — All the pieces fit together well. — The price is very affordable. — Despite not having English directions, they were pretty easy to figure out. — It comes with stickers or waterslide decals, depending on your skill level. — There a several joints and moving pieces that allow for a number of poses to bring the model to life. Things that could be better: — The eyes are very dim, and brighter eyes could bring some life to the model. — Some of the decals are supposed to be placed over very details, beveled edges—which makes it hard for the decals to stick (I broke 4 of my decals...) — No English directions. Tips for first-time builders: — I bought a tool kit to help with assembly and I highly recommend it. Specifically, I used: Rustark 9Pcs Gundam Model Tools Kit Hobby Building Tools Craft Set for Basic Model Building, Repairing and Fixing — I've never applied waterslide decals before, and they're tough! Eventually I broke down and bought Decal Setting Solution-Micro Scale Micro Sol 102 + Micro Set 101 Package Decal . Micro Set helps you move the decal after its applied, and Micro Sol helps the decal adhere to the plastic. Life saver! — For some added realism I used Tamiya 87085 Weathering Master C Set for weathering. Overall, a good experience.

I got hooked on these Bandai kits about a month ago. I got Kylo Ren to build with my 8 year old son. I immediately purchased Boba Fett after that, and then the Scout Trooper. These are not action figures but model kits, so buyers should be aware that: A) They will not hold up during play time (get the Star Wars Black Series 6" figures for that) B) You will have to do some sort of weathering to get characters like Boba Fett and the Troopers looking legit These figures are lighter than the Black Series line, but the build quality is excellent. The joints are rubber, so articulation is smooth. The articulation is also amazing. Putting the figure together didn't take as long as I thought, but there are a lot of parts too small and delicate for my son to handle. One thing that I thought was cool that really sets these apart from Kotobukiya and others, was that you're not just snapping arms and legs to torsos - you're actually building these guys in layers. Boba Fett's torso was three layers, so it gives it a real look and feel of armor. Same with the speeder bike. I felt like if I scanned all these pieces in a 3D printer, I'd have enough working parts to build an actual speeder bike. Everything fit together nicely, but not perfect. My Scout's right shin just wouldn't get flush for whatever reason, but I just displayed him where you couldn't see it. After a lot of reading and watching online, I decided to give the Tamiya Weathering Master sets a try. Man, they worked great for dirtying up the speeder bike and the Scout Trooper, and they gave the base a nice grassy look. They didn't work that well for silver battle damage on Fett (I just used a paint pen for that). It was quick, simple and fun. Just a bit of color really transforms these figures. These stickers and decaIs that come with the kits are hit or miss. If the sticker was going on a flat surface, I didn't have any problems and it looked fine. Other than that, I wasn't pleased with the end result. Also, some of the stickers were nearly microscopic, and I just didn't bother. Overall, I will definitely be buying more kits in the near future.
