It's an industry standard for a reason
You get exactly what you expect here - an industry standard product. This product is my go to product for pastel work. It feels good, the colours are great, and it takes numerous layers of pastel, allowing for easy blending as you go.The pastel also seems to stick to this more than some other pastels I've used, meaning less need for fixative.I can't say much more other than, if you're new to pastel, give this a go.

Works very well with coloured pencil!
Fantastic paper, I use it with coloured pencils (prismacolor, polychromos, derwent drawing pencils etc). I prefer the smooth side to the one with the honeycomb texture. I recommend using a blending pencil with this paper though, I've found that using mineral spirits to blend isn't as effective on this paper as it is on something like watercolour paper. There's a good selection of light to mid-tones in this pad- perfect for using with both pale and dark colours.

Nice subtle colours
The paper in here is a range of subtle colours, great for pastel and coloured pencil. The most interesting thing about it is that you can work on either side. The side which faces you as you open the pad has a very pronounced honeycomb texture, whereas the reverse side has a more subdued texture which in my opinion is nicer to work on in coloured pencil. I haven't tried this paper with my pastels.I don't like the honeycomb pattern and would prefer something less regular. But I'm glad I bought this as the reverse has produced some pleasing results. If you're trying out different papers, give this one a try.

Canson's , 5 Assorted colours of paper well suited to pastels.
A pad of pastel paper which I use for animal portraits in soft pastels. One side is what I would call honeycombed and the reverse is smoother. Probably perfect for portraits of children. Down to personal preference I would think. Lovely quality and I personally like these colour tones although there are several others to choose from.

Nice paper!
Really nice thick paper. Can use all kinds of media on it. Maybe not copics for instance, thatd drain the markers. I used black copic for silhouettes, because I didnt know what else to do with the black markers otherwise (non blendable).

For the drawings you want to keep
Although a starter with pastels, the quality felt very good and I'm using this for drawings that I want to keep. (Using paper with lesser gsm for practice ones)

Beautiful paper ❤️
I originally ordered the tanned coloured paper but when it arrived I wasn't so keen on it so returned it and swapped it for the greys as I felt like it suited my style more and I'm very impressed with it so far. As you can see I'm currently half way through a Tiger piece at the moment and haven't had any problems with it. I'm currently using Carbothello pastel pencils and they seem to work in perfect harmony together. Thank you Canson ❤️❤️

Dissapointed with results
The media could not be loaded. I was really optimistic about trying this paper, as I had seen good reviews on it, and it's very affordable. Unfortunately I was really very disappointed, I thought the paper would be able to hold the pastels and allow for a good amount of layering as other brands such as Clairefontaine Pastelmat, but this was not the case and when I tried to mix colours on the paper they bled into eachother as oppose to creating a nice transition. This is a good starter paper for people who are not too familiar with pastels, and don't want to spend too much money, but for me personally I don't think it's the best - which is a shame as it's so reasonably priced.
