I am not a meat eater any longer and I needed a replacement for taco meat and the tofu taco type meat I was making was not cutting it This on the other hand is perfect for it and it tastes great!! Highly suggested!!

This is an odd one to review, because while I thought this crumbled ground meat substitute was great, my husband was exactly the opposite and didn't like it at all.I think he must be more sensitive to the flavor of this meat alternative than I am, because he commented on the taste bothering him, while I didn't notice anything unusual about it. He was also unsatisfied with the texture, saying it seemed 'slimy' to him - again, not something I would've described it as. It's good to note, though, as it seems to be one of those hit-or-miss type of foods.For myself, I thought it was great. I tried a little prior to spicing it up, and found the flavor to be fairly neutral, the texture satisfyingly meat-like. If I didn't know better, you could probably convince me it was some sort of meat I'd never had before. It crumbled nicely when I fried it up with a bit of oil to add spices to it for tacos. Some of it crumbled a bit too much, leaving it almost powdered (bigger pieces than powder, but hopefully you understand what I mean). That didn't hurt it to use for tacos, though, and that's how we finished the pack off.It came in a sealed, but easy-to-open, packet. I'm very happy with the short, simple ingredient list - no unusual chemicals or anything, most of the flavor and texture coming from the mushroom itself. It works well - for me, at least!I'm a little sad to drop a star, but I think for the sake of thoroughness, I need to. It'd be 5 stars from me, but my husband was closer to 2 or 3. Again, your mileage may vary!

It’s owe your taste, but I love it!!! You have to season to your liking and not just eat out the box

This stuff has a mostly neutral taste, which makes it a good base for any type of meal. I tried this both microwaved and fried in a pan, and both ways turned out good. But there was a slight mushroom aftertaste with the microwaved one, that was still noticeable even after it was mixed into a ramen cup. Frying it is a bit better if you care about this, I didn't notice any sort of mushroom aftertaste when cooking it this way. This product is pretty good, but I have a hard time recommending it at the current price of $13 for 8.8oz. Most of the other options for plant based meat crumbles are half the price for a slightly larger bag. Unless you need a convenient pre cooked option for travel, I can't really recommend this due to the fact that it's overpriced.

I have been a vegan for nearly 50 years and rarely do I get excited about new products I discover but this is one of them. Mushroom Shred-it and Mushroom Balls contain only a few but healthy ingredients, which I greatly appreciate. They are neutral in taste, just as tofu is. This means the product is like a blank canvas that one can flavor or season to his or her heart's content. I love adding Mushroom Shred-it to pasta with my favorite marinara sauce as well as to rice/quinoa. Mix it in to butter squash or lentil soup for a heartier taste. I am starting to salivate even as I write! Quick and easy to prepare, this product has my full-throated and enthusiastic endorsement.

Delicious! Love the portability of not requiring refrigeration. Would absolutely buy it again. I bought it to take vegetarian protein with me on my travels. Excellent products.
