Plumb Tub - SPI Radiator Draining Tub (Color May Vary)

A great, easy to use piece of kit! I've tried a few different little gadgets over the years but this is the best one by far!Two suggestions - first the bowl only holds about 1.4 litres so have a small cup or similar and a larger vessel to bail it into. I found this much less fiddly than trying to empty the bowl and refit. You'll probably be surprised just how much water even a small slimline radiator contains!Secondly, before you start pop down to your local hardware shop, Screwfix, whatever and buy a couple of 'blank nuts' to cap off the radiator valves once you have removed the radiator. On a couple of occasions I've found one of the valves doesn't completely close (no matter how hard you turn the valve) so putting one of these on contains any pesky drips or trickles. They are cheap and available in a number of sizes to fit your own radiator valves. I've found that even if the valves close off perfectly, it's good peace of mind to have them physically capped as well.

Plumb tub is made of a flexible rubbery type of plastic, which means you can squeeze it in or under pipes with ease.The three corners are designed to fit around the three common pipe sizes, I was only interested in 15mm which it dealt with brilliantly. it contains about a litre of liquid so combined with a towel can deal with drips and hose drain downs on a carpeted floor with a degree of success.

Like other I’ve struggled up and til now with towels, trays etc to capture radiation drainage, but now this device makes it much easier. Simply clip around the pipe crack open a coupling and let it drain. (Don’t completely disconnect as pressure could make the water spurt every where, but that’s obvious :) )It doesn’t hold a great deal of water so keep an eye on it, but removal (after retightening the coupling - I just did it finger tight with a bigger bucket to hand) is easy without any spills.Definitely recommended.

Great well thought out design. Fits snuggly around all standard pipe sizes.

This simple bowl makes draining a radiator really easy. and works as described.Points to note - select the correct size corner hole to match the pipe size, and make certain the fastener is clicked shut around the pipe.

A really useful little gadget for draining down rads. Little to no spillage. Way better than the old Chinese food container!!
