Life changing device!!
Life changing device!!, well that maybe hyperbole. But a fantastic gadget, best kitchen gadget I’ve bought in years. I'm into sharp Japanese knives for cooking and have hand cut beans for years. I'd seen these bean gadgets and assumed they'd be crappy, but a recent glut of home grown beans meant I though it was worth it for a fiver. Wow, it's just so good. It perfectly takes off the string edges and easily slices the beans. My tip if you care; Despite the bean tip removing blade being very sharp, I personally think it's quicker to do that on a chopping board as you can do a whole bunch of bean tips in one go.

I think the beans taste better when cut this way.
Love this. I think the beans taste better when cut this way. It's easy to use - place the bean in the top and push down until enough has passed through so you can grab it from below then pull the remaining bean through. The stringy sides of the bean will be cut off to be discarded. Just be careful not to put your finers into the cutter - it's really sharp. Lovely and sturdy, my previous one lasted for years. It works really well and at a very good price.

The best bean slicer / stringer on the market
Possibly the best thing since sliced bread. Works very well to remove the strings from beans. Don't use on very large beans as it will get clogged. Take care when you remove the cutter from the package as I managed to cut my finger quite badly. The tool is excellent and extremely useful during the runner bean season. Recommended

Should come with a protective cap but doesnt
The way that this death slicer doesn't come with a safety cap is wild to me. The blades are incredibly sharp. It also has an additional death slicer blade at the top to cut away the two ends of the bean. This to me seems excessive and there's nothing at all to protect your fingers from getting sliced on this. Having said that, it slices beans lovely and fine and cuts the stringy bits at the same time. It won't slice any runner bean that has been left to grow for longer and is a bit fatter, it simply smushes and breaks the bean. It also has to be very fresh, if the bean has been picked for more than a few hours and has lost its crispness, then it won't slice. I would have loved this handy little tool to be kept in my kitchen drawer with all of my other kitchen utensils, but because I don't want to risk decapitating my fingers, it has to be kept in a plastic box (not provided) at the back of the kitchen cupboard. So not very handy.

This really does work well
I've contemplating purchasing this item for some time now, as I couldn't believe that it would actually work any better than the devices found in the shops. I was extremely pleasantly surprised. Usually, it takes me an age to trim and slice my runner beans with the traditional square device with cutters. This device took me minutes to do a huge bundle of runner beans. I never write reviews, although I do usually read what other people have posted, to get a sense of whether something is worth buying or not. I couldn't believe my luck when buying this item, as it worked so well - much better than I had ever imagined. It's a real must have item if you slice your own runner beans. I'm even tempted to buy a 2nd one, just in case something happens to the one I purchased.

Proven durability and perfect for it's purpose
My mother has had one of these for many many years. I have previously attempted to replicate one of her recipes to make a green bean stew however the beans were crunchy and stringy. The beans are sometimes too thick or too old therefore they become tough and stringy. This is the perfect little device to prepare the beans properly to overcome the texture. - It lasts for years and years - Strings the beans to get rid of the unchewable irritating bit - Reduces the cooking time of the green beans by slitting them into slices as well as allowing them to become as tender as possible - Easy to clean - Comes with an extremely sharp top blade to cut tips and ends as you do not want them in your food - Blades are extremely sharp and does not require effort to push the beans through My suggestion is if you are using relatively younger, thinner beans you have to check that you're putting in the actual slices with the flesh, not the ones with just the skin and the string. Is a must have tool to make a better, tender green bean dish. Recommended to everyone. Can not go wrong with this brand.

Perfetto per un taglio sottilissimo dei fagiolini. Lavorioso, ma di grande effetto. Sembrano tagliatelle. .
