A great idea, which doesn't quite work....
Given the price of this iron, I'd spent quite some time deliberating before making the decision to buy and, for those in the same position, I wanted to give some candid feedback which can hopefully assist. In short, my experience leads me to believe that the iron, whilst conceptually brilliant, fails to live up to the expectations. That combined with multiple technical issues mean that unfortunately, I'm now looking for a new iron....Pros:The iron looks great. It's much lighter than a comparable steam generator and doesn't heat up a room in the same way during use.The glass sole plate is a great innovation: being glass it doesn't melt/ burn delicate fabrics irrespective of the temperature setting. There's no heating of water, so no build up of residue as is common in steam generators. The Cons:The unit is loud. Pulling the trigger to generate the "vapour" leads to a loud pumping sound as water is fed from the base to the hand unit. This isn't something you can use if you want to remain relatively quiet/ hold a conversation with someone. The glass sole plate fails to get hot enough. Even on the highest setting the iron isn't effective on a vast array of items: shirts, skirts, jumpers..... basically anything that isn't still wet. In my opinion, this is a major problem with the unit (but is also probably the reason that the iron doesn't burn/ melt delicate fabrics). The glass sole plate is something of a gimmick. While it helps to see creases while you're ironing, if you can see then under the sole plate.....they've already been ironed into the fabric. And finally, the technical issues:I'm now onto my second unit which was sent after the first one broke. Unfortunately the second has now given up the ghost. With the first unit, I quickly found that the vapour spray stopped working. The unit would make the appropriate sound, but no vapour would be produced. This seems to be a common problem with the iron (so much so, that it is the first troubleshooting step in the manual) and is apparently caused by a build up in the spray system (similar to a steam generator, which this iron's lack of heated water is meant to relieve). Following said troubleshooting steps I was still unable to resolve the issue. I contacted Morphy Richards directly who were very helpful and quickly arranged for a replacement to be delivered. On its third outing the replacement has now broken. This time there seems to be a fundamental power failure in the device. As soon as it is switched on the unit powers down indicating a problem somewhere. Morphy Richards are at a loss and so would like to provide me with another replacement. As mentioned as the outset, given the price of this item, this seems to be a problem too far. While the look and idea of this iron is amazing, the product still feels like a beta release and still needs a large number of problems "ironing" out. If the idea of this iron appeals, you might be better served buying a dry iron and a manual spray gun which will produce the same type of "vapour" at a fraction of the cost, noise and overall unit size.I hope this helps anyone out there who is contemplating taking the plunge with this iron.

....and now for something completely different
This is not like any iron you have ever seen before. It’s a really gorgeous design and it works. I’m not sure what Morphy Richards were thinking of when then introduced this for £250 - it’s never worth that sort of money - but I paid £59 and for that, it’s a bit of a steal. I have been using dry irons recently (with a water spray nearby) because I got fed-up with steam irons furring-up, spitting out sh*t and then breaking down. I cannot tell yet about the longevity of this product but the vapour mist concept is very effective and seems to work very well for me. It’s much quicker than a dry iron with a separate water spray and I am getting better results than with any steam iron I have ever used. It also has a 10 minute inactivity shut-off feature, which I think should be mandatory for all irons but is actually quite difficult to find on a simple dry iron. So, all in all, I am really pleased with this purchase.

Disappointing
It's not brilliant. You really have to learn to use the water mist technology properly for it to work. The moisture is what transfers heat to the garment to take out the creases, if you don't use this it simply isn't hot enough. For an item this expensive you really shouldn't have to work that hard to make it barely adequate.Looks excellent though!

Whilst the technology sounds very good, the application is very different.
Whilst the technology sounds very good, the application is very different. The glass plate does not seem to get hot enough to remove typical creases which are easily removed by my conventional £40 steam iron. The fine mist spray is very difficult to regulate and you end up with wet patches. The water feed pipe is very stiff and cumbersome and constantly impedes the ironing board and garment meaning you actually have to re-iron certain parts of the garment. After persevering for a month or so due to the investment I had made, eventually I returned to using my old iron.

WORST IRON IN THE HISTORY OF IRONS!!!
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? I live in a really hard water area so I go through at least 1 steam generator iron each year so I thought this sounded like a great Idea. Boy, was I wrong. I tried it on 4 pairs of jeans and where usually I only have to iron one side I had to turn them over and iron the other side and even then all the creases were not out. I was seduced by the glamorous looking design but unfortunately that is all it has going for it. The black cord is so stiff that is makes the iron hard to manoeuvre and it sticks up so you can't hold the iron close to the handle (it obstructs your arm). I placed the iron flat on the ironing board for 30 seconds to test the heat and I could easily touch it whereas on my other iron it was always a tentative touch. I should have really twigged that it is a huge failure by the heavily reduced price everywhere (£80 on ebay new). I don't know what to do with it as I can't return it for simply being a crap product. I would feel bad giving it to charity as I would not want to lumber someone else with it. To put it simply, an old victorian cast iron you put on the stove would remove more creases.

Great iron
After my iron blew up I decided that I wanted an iron with a tank to make ironing a bit easier. It does however as the other reviews state it doesn’t heat up too high, which for me is great as I kept burning the clothes.

Useless product
Don't believe the hype, this is a very poor product, it doesn't get hot enough to remove creases and takes twice as long to iron each article.Even the Helpline at Morphy Richards agree that not everyone likes it, but they do not entertain refunds. It has been used once to do the weekly iron, but we gave up after 2 hours with only a few articles completed. It is a miserable iron to deal with as you keep on ironing, but the finished result is poor.Amazon rules preclude us from getting a refund, as the product has been used, and we do not want a replacement, so our only recourse will be with Trading Standards.
