Just about covered the base of a 30x30cm floor space tank with a 2inch layer. If you tank is larger then you will need another bag! In terms of functionality its great! Holds the water where you want it.

Amazing item does what it should

Bought to replace drainage media in my creaties viv, it works really well and you get plenty of it in the bag.

This bag doesnt contain alot of hydro balls enough to cover a wide space with depth, was only able to do a shallow layer on 30cmD - 40cmL tank. The hydro balls half work, i only needed them for a drainage system to get rid of unneeded moisture, however when hear comes into contact with the hydroballs they go bone dry and no longer contain moisture, they cannot work under very humid hot tanks, no matter how much you wet the tank. You would need to drench the tank every so often in order for them to do their job. However i would order again since there the only suitable ones out there as far.

Amazing product at a decent price compared to the stores. Exactly what I wanted and needed, would recommend. Came very well packaged and the delivery was very prompt.

I bought these as a drainage layer for the bottom of my exo terra vivarium for my crested gecko. As the viv needs misted daily and I keep live plants in the viv this acts as a drainage layer to soak up any water. I have layered the draining mesh on top of the balls and then a mix of top soil and eco earth on top. My live plants are doing fantastic in the viv and the humidity is kept consistant.

These HydroBalls are a great base layer for terrariums. I use them under substrate to create drainage, and they really help keep excess water away from the main soil layer while still maintaining the right humidity levels. They’re lightweight, easy to rinse before use, and spread evenly across the bottom of a tank. They also work well with a mesh layer on top to keep soil from mixing in, and I’ve noticed the difference in keeping the enclosure cleaner and healthier for my reptiles. The 2.5 lb bag doesn’t go super far if you have a large tank, but for smaller terrariums or as a starter it works well. Overall, they do exactly what they’re meant to and are a simple, effective way to improve drainage in naturalistic or bioactive setups.

Ich habe die Zoomed HydroBalls als unterste Drainageschicht in meinem Terrarium verwendet – und sie erfüllen ihren Zweck absolut zuverlässig. Die Tonkugeln sorgen für eine gute Wasserableitung und helfen, Staunässe im Bodengrund zu vermeiden. In Kombination mit einem Vlies und passendem Substrat darüber entsteht ein stabiles, gut belüftetes Bodenprofil – ideal für tropische Terrarien oder Paludarien. Die Verarbeitung ist gut, die Kugeln sind gleichmäßig groß und staubfrei, was mir besonders wichtig war. Außerdem speichern sie Feuchtigkeit gut und tragen zu einer stabilen Luftfeuchtigkeit bei. Was man aber sagen muss: Der Preis ist im Vergleich zu ähnlichen Produkten etwas hoch. Für kleinere Becken oder Projekte ist das noch vertretbar, aber bei größeren Terrarien kann es schnell ins Geld gehen. Trotzdem: Die Qualität ist gut und man bekommt ein sauberes, gebrauchsfertiges Produkt, das keine zusätzliche Vorbereitung benötigt. Insgesamt bin ich zufrieden – die HydroBalls tun, was sie sollen, und machen den Terrarienboden deutlich langlebiger und stabiler. Wer auf der Suche nach einer bewährten Lösung für die Drainageschicht ist, macht hier nichts falsch. Ein Punkt Abzug wegen des Preises, aber klare Kaufempfehlung für alle, die auf Nummer sicher gehen wollen.
