Keeping this one, we are.
Update Aug-2022: After running for more than a year, the pump finally died. Thankfully a replacement pump was available here for $10 and this thing is running again! BTW, dont get scared when the pump suddenly stops. It seems to be a power-saving thing! It comes back in a bit!! Update 9/14: This unit is working just fine. Ofcourse I DIYed a filter instead of forking $4 each time. Oh those filters get bad pretty quick. If you read a review that says the pump stopped working, thats just poor maintenance. Its just because the user didnt clean the impeller/suction part properly. See, you are supposed to take the entire unit apart, rinse, wash properly to remove cat food residue. Oh, it is gonna get into the pump inlet, with or without the filter. My motor did the same thing: lights blink, then no action. Clean the pump after taking it apart, in fast water, its just as new... ======================================================================== The background story is my cat always spilled water from his bowl just to check if its "alive". So I was tired of drying the carpet and yelling at him when he does that. So I needed something to check and control this behaviour. So my review will be from this perspective. Whats good 1. Silence. Yes! Its super super quiet. I can swear its now working if it was not for the minute movement of the water fountain. 2. No spillage!! I have used two other electric cat fountains and in both of them there was enough water for my cat to play with and ergo spill on the carpet. This device has very little amount of water available for him to spill. Also the "Infinity pool" concept ensures the water is not at the edge of the drinking bowl, thus preventing accidental spills. Love this piece of design. 3. Setup is simple. Just pop in the motor, connect the wire, fill water and its on! 4. Love the blue light. My cat is curious all the time (including ones he saw already!) So in a dark room this catches his attention and he investigates, sniffs and ergo he drinks water often! Whats I didnt like 1. I wasnt happy about the motor being loose the 5v connection is in the water. Agreed, its a low voltage and Im pretty sure its water tight. As an electrician, thats not something Im comfortable with, unless its sealed by silicone. Im assuming the thought process was to "replace" the motor when it goes bad? The designers need to think, no one is going to replace just the motor. They are gonna toss this out and get a new unit by itself. So why not just fuse the motor to the unit into a water tight unit!!? 2. Filter Media: $4 for each is not just a sustainable option. Especially with having to change frequently as it is getting soggy in less than a month. 3. Cable management. The cable management design under the unit is just not working. I tried following instruction and the cable and connector keeps popping out. Its not a deal breaker but its an annoyance. Overall This is much better than the ones I have seen in Walmart and definitely better option for cats that like playing with still water! What got me onboard is that my cat hated the other fountains due to its noise and very active water flow. But the quiet motor and minimal fountain movement won him over. Keeping this one, we are.

Pet Purr-fect
Hmmm... So, I purchased this to replace my EverSweet Solo fountain which I believe suffered a catastrophic electrical cord failure - and while this one appears to be VERY similar, it is not exactly the same. For example, the power cord does not detach in the middle like the other one with its water-proof cap on the end. Also, the unit is labeled Petkit vs EverSweet. That said, the pump appears to be identical as far as I can tell. ( Frequent cleaning of the inside of the pump is a MUST!) The lights and how the unit works is also exactly the same and it remains very quiet (as long as there is sufficient water in it. It does gurgle a bit if you let the water get too low). Will the new unit resolve what I believe was a wiring problem with the old one? Only time will tell. As for now, the fountain is silent, it switches settings with a simple touch of the button, and kitty loves it! I only hope the wiring lasts longer than the last one (which did last over a year!). Noe: You will need to supply your own power (plug) for the USB cord. Many people have "spare" ones, but not everyone does. It would have been nice if that had been included. Also, the filters are NOT as good as they claim. Pricey, and effective, but only last about 2-3 weeks in my experience.

Stopped pumping? CLEAN IT
Like many others who wrote reviews about this product, my pump stopped working about a couple weeks after I replaced the first filter. The reason was that the filters I purchased did not fit correctly - the hole in the middle was too large and it allowed pet hair to get past and down into the reservoir. Once the hair is in there, it gets into the wheel in the pump. This is an extremely easy fix. All you have to do is take the pump apart and clean it and remove the hair. There is a QR code in the instruction manual showing how to clean the pump. I can also say that I have one small cat, one large cat, and one 75 lb. dog. All three of them use this fountain. The dog has even learned to use it on "smart mode" (a cycle where it pumps for a couple of minutes, then stays off for a couple of minutes as a method to make the filter last longer and the water evaporate less quickly) - he will quickly empty the top saucer of water if it's in the Off cycle of smart mode, then stand and wait for it to come back on again before continuing to drink. It works just fine for him so don't be worried unless your dog is REALLY big. It does need to be cleaned at least once every couple of weeks if not more frequently just like any other water dish would since they get gross and slimy with bacteria if left alone. It really is easy to clean, marginally more effort than cleaning a regular water bowl. You could probably even put most of the pieces in the dishwasher if you really wanted to, although you probably want to keep the main reservoir piece out of there since it has an electrical cord attached. Overall I think this is an excellent product, especially for the price. Make sure to get the correct replacement filters to avoid having so much hair getting in. It's also good to have a small bottle brush (brush diameter 1/2 inch or so) to clean the tube and inner pump.

Major improvements... Couple of misses
I've been using this fountain for 4 years now, my cat took to it very quickly and enjoys the moving water! The last one died after 4 years and as many household moves. I had one motor die in the process but not due to lack of maintenance, rather the connector eventually gave out. I bought the wireless unit this time around: Improvements: The wireless motor is huge! Gone are the wires and connectors in the water tank. Still super quiet when operating. Separate power base makes it simple to take the fountain apart and clean, no fumbling with power cords in the sink! Added filter on the motor intake captures stray fur before it gets into the impeller. Mind you it is still simple and recommended to take the motor apart and clean it regularly, this just helps keep it running better. Misses or lost features: The old unit had a setting to only run the unit 50% of the time, reducing power use and increasing filter life. This one has no user settings whatsoever, just plug it in and it runs. I suppose I could use a smart outlet to control the ontime but the power to run that outlet is probably as much if not more than what I would save No filter replacement reminder, last unit had a resettable timer and flashing light to remind you to replace the filter. No such luck on this new unit. So 5 stars for the upgrades, a much better designed unit than previously. I took a star for the lost features that I regularly used. I would buy again.

Safe and Reliable Cat Water Fountain
Here's a review after three months of use. I've been using it for three months now and have already replaced the filter three times. Personally, I think this is the best one among the six different brands and types of water dispensers I've used. First and foremost, it doesn't leak electricity. I tested it with an electric tester, and it's safe. Second, it's genuinely quiet—very quiet day or night, with no water flow noise that keeps you awake. Third, its water bowl design holds enough for my cat (a super water-loving one) to drink at least two full servings. The bowl also catches food particles that drip from its mouth, preventing them from clogging the filter and causing it to wear out quickly. However, due to its price point, it doesn't seem to have a selective water flow option—it runs continuously. This feels a bit wasteful of both the filter and electricity. Overall, it deserves 5 stars, but if you can afford it, the premium version would be a better choice.

Replacing a SafePet water fountian
Because of the way that this water fountain is designed, it helps to keep the water clean which was the mean reason that I got as a replacement. The old fountains pump started to go out to build inside: It start to surge spilling water everywhere. The fact that whole thing was glued together made it hard to impossible to clean or maintain. With the wireless power base it becomes easier to to clean which I do every time I refill my cats water and thanks to the amount of water and having only one cat is about a week. Prefect for one cat . The deep bowl for the spill over is a wonderful design, I no longer have to worry about water getting everywhere. As for lifespan I see how long the pump lasts. The one downside so fare is that there is no LED to show water level.

Kitties First Water Fountain!
Only the pump is wireless, which sits inside the bottom bowl of water. The unit sits on a platform that has to be continuously hooked up via the USB port to a portable charger or via an electrical adapter. (It is inductive - like a wireless phone charger). My chosen area has horrible outlet locations, and my smaller chargers wouldn't last very long. Instead, I am using my Jackery 240 power charger, and that fits fine near the water fountain. The Petkit has been running for almost 24 hours, and the Jackery shows no watts coming in, nor has the charge level dipped below 100%. The spec says it takes about 1.5 - 2 watts (possibly less), and the fountain is flowing perfectly. So far, so good, though my cats haven't become enchanted yet with the water. Hopefully soon. I do not recommend anyone buy a multi-$$$ charger for this sub-$30 unit, but for me it's working out. Hopefully, others have better places to plug in the kit. 😺

Very expensive piece of junk
Because these came so highly recommended on Amazon, I bought two of them for my very picky cat, so that I could let one dry out and quickly swap over to the other when the water needed changing. I will say that my cat does this breed love drinking out of them, more than any others I’ve tried. However, I’ve had them for 6 months, and in that time I’ve spent more time fiddling with their various eccentricities than my cat has had enjoying drinking from them. First, it became obvious very early on that the unit is designed to trigger a signal to replace the VERY expensive filters (about $5/each) every 2 weeks like clockwork. I believe there is a timer built in which activates this, simply to garner income by frequent filter replacement. Anyone who has had fish tanks knows that filter media can be cleaned and re-used for some time. However this unit will start flashing lights at you and has to be reset to stop the flashing lights, like clockwork. When you do reset, it will trigger more frequently in order to annoy you to spend money replacing the filter. I did figure out that swapping a wet filter for a rinsed out and dried one every 2 weeks will get you extended use of the filters, so that’s what I do now. It’s just really annoying and unnecessary. Also, the unit is just a simple circuit board attached to a water pump and a not very good button to trigger various settings. If you buy this unit, be sure to keep the reference card handy, because it likes to slip from one setting to the next, frequently, and you have to reset it. Because the controls and various setting are not intuitive, and all based simply on different colored lights and long holds or short presses of the fairly unresponsive button, you need the reference card to remember what to press and which color should come up to get your desired setting. The light on this unit glows very bright, either green, blue, white or orange. Green makes the bubbling effect intermittent every 3 minutes. This is a pointless setting when you have a cat, as cats like a constant flow of water. Unfortunately, the unit defaults to this setting, so if you want a constant flow of water, you are forever resetting the unit to get a blue light, each and every time you change the water or are forced to do a filter reset on those 2 week timer schedules. It is possible to get the bright light to turn off, by pressing and holding the button until the light goes out. You have to make sure you are set to the right color and then do this as an extra step... sometimes it works on the first try, sometimes it doesn’t and you have to do it multiple times to get the light to turn out, and yet other times, it fails altogether and resets to the green setting, and you have to start all over. The final straw came tonight when my cat went over to the unit and gave me a dirty look. I’m not sure when it happened, but the unit just stopped bubbling altogether. When it does this it should warn you with a white or orange light... but it didn’t, so my cat was left to drink putrid, still water for... I have no idea how long. After some research, it seems that the water pump needed cleaning. I’ll mention again here that I have had these units for a mere 6 months, and because I have 2 I swap out, I’ve used each of them for only 3 months so far. Upon checking them, it turns out BOTH filters had stopped bubbling, again, like clockwork. As I mentioned earlier, I have had many fish tanks with many water pumps, and have never had to clean any of those more frequently than once every 2 years. So having to take apart and clean the water pumps in these units every 3 months is entirely unacceptable. And in fact, they didn’t even look dirty, but taking them apart, removing and scrubbing the impeller, and running faucet water through the pump did fix the problem. These units were $60 each. The filters about $5 each, so if I replaced them at the frequency the unit requests, that’s another $130/year. Even if that cost were acceptable (which it’s not), the constant resetting of the unit to clear various errors or just to restart after a water refill is just unacceptable. I do not recommend this product if you want a hassle-free drinking water solution for your pet, because this is the farthest thing from hassle-free you will find.
