Q: What is the size between the two seats ?. It looks like half of the sand pit is covered with the seats so there isnt actually much room to play !

60 cms, and with the 18 month infant sat on the seat that is more than adequate - I think two could happily manage, diagonallyopposite each other, but three would be a crowd

Q: Does this sandpit need staining to protect it?

It's pure wood, so if you want it to last long, it might need it. We haven't used anything (but only a few months old). My 20 months old daughter loves it. Perfect size for this age.

It's quite big - more than a tray. The lid is solid supports my 14 stone without problem
