I rarely ever usually write reviews, however, I am a black girl with thick curly hair who has been straightening it for the past 10 years or so and these are the best straighteners I have ever used. I have tried out about 6 different hair straighteners (as well as getting my hair professionally done at the hair dressers) including K&K, ghd’s and steam straighteners and these Remingtons are the best, providing a professional quality and easy use. They are so light with no sharp edges so good for long term use, especially as some straighteners cause aches and bruises when working on a lot of hair. The infused ceramic plates make the hair so smooth and shiny, but not oily or greasy, making it look naturally straight and causes no breakage. The buttons are really easy to use and the straighteners are just the right size, coming with a nice satchel making it easy to travel with. 10/10 recommend, get them while the price is low right now, however even at the original £80, i’d still say they are 100% worth the price!

I got this Remington Shine Therapy Straightener / Styler on offer, so it was a bargain. I’ve used GHDs since 2002, having tried pretty much every model since it started. My current GHD is the platinum + model, and I have also tried their newest model, the Chronos, but I can honestly say that this Remington Shine Therapy straightener works better on my hair, straightening and curling it more quickly.I have naturally wavy/ fluffy hair, which is quite fine but there’s a lot of it. It goes very frizzy as soon as there’s a bit of drizzle/humidity and I can never blow dry it anywhere near straight. When it fluffs up, it looks like a lion’s mane.I’ve only been using these for a few days, but am blown away by how great they are. The plates are also longer than ghds, which I find makes them easier to curl/wave with, and quicker to straighten with.When switched on, they heat up quickly, though the temperature display seems to flash for a couple of minutes (I haven’t timed it), which I believe indicates they are still heating up. However, I feel they work great even when the display is still flashing. When they switch on, they default to 190 degrees, so if you want them cooler or hotter, you just need to adjust with the buttons. I find 190 to be perfect for my hair, though I haven’t tried it cooler.It glides through my hair so easily. I can’t believe how quickly and effectively it straightens my hair; it has never felt softer or looked healthier. It’s great at curling/waving too, producing long lasting waves for a natural beachy look.There’s a button to lock the plates closed when not in use. This is a great idea but I do sometimes find it a little stiff so I tend not to use it. It’s not something that’s featured on any of my ghds before, so I will probably just continue to use the silicone sleeve I have from my ghd platinums, which holds the styler closed.If I straighten my hair with this, it remains pretty straight until I wash it again (sometimes just needing a straightening top up if it’s been tied in a ponytail. I needed to straighten my hair daily with my GHDs regardless of whether it was a hair wash day or not.The results are so much better with this than my ghds. I should also state that I have used cloud 9s too, which I didn’t think were that great.I can honestly say that this is the best straightener/styler I have ever used. I think I’d just assumed that no one would ever make anything anywhere near as good as ghds but I suppose 20+ years have passed since GHD infiltrated the market.Before spending loads of money on a top of the range one, give this a try, especially if it’s on offer. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.Edit: I’m now nearly 8 weeks in, and my hair still loves this straightener. I wondered if the honeymoon period would wear off, but it hasn’t! And the best of it is, I haven’t had to do anything to my hair (other than brush it) since I washed it (and blow dried and straightened it) two days ago. That was unheard of before I owned this :)Edit: May 2025. It’s almost 11 months since I purchased this and I still stand by how amazing it is. The condition of my hair is the best it’s ever been. I don’t need to re straighten or wave my hair every day like I did with my GHDs; it stays straight or wavy (however I have styled it) until it’s washed again. And the condition of my hair after washing and drying is much better than it’s ever been. My hairdresser has noticed a huge improvement in my hair too.

these are incredible, I have had GHDs & CloudNine straighteners and nothing compares to these! not only are they within budget range but they heat up to maximum 235 degrees but you can set them to your own desired temperature. they leave the hair beautiful and shiny as well as straight. I have extremely thick hair and only need to wash my hair once a week. I can straighten my hair once with these and it's straight and smooth all week even if ive had it tied up. I have even asked my husband to get me the hair dryer and other straighteners to complete the set.

Good quality at a sensible price. Easy to style with them and they get up to a good heat very quickly.

These are absolutely fantastic!! Saw a review that they were good and thought I would try and I am so glad I have. I have had GHD for years but these beat them by miles. For the price of these you cannot go wrong. I had the wide plate as my hair is passed my shoulders and they did it in no time. My hair is so soft and straight. Will definitely buy again or as a gift

I love these straighteners, quick to heat up and leave my hair smooth and shiny. I have the matching hairdryer too which is also good.

Absolutely amazing and incredibly cheap

Honestly if you're like me and spent wayyy too long researching straighteners like GHD and cloud 9 but couldn't justify the cost this is for you! I spent ages looking for a good pair after mine gave up the ghost after 15+ years but those brands were just too expensive! seen it these on offer and rated number one in the Amazon list so gave them a go! OMG! I waited til I washed my hair to leave my thoughts as would be genuine review but these are fab! I have super long, SUPER thick hair and it's a work out normally to style it honestly, it normally gets stuck up in a messy bun. I got the wide iron as better for my hair type but these make it so straight and shiny looking! No having to go over it again each day and my hair is wild usually 🙈 I am so impressed! Honestly these are amazing I'm really happy with my purchase!
