My go-to instant coffee for a variety of uses!
My go-to instant coffee for a variety of uses! I love good coffee, and I usually make my own at home. However, during the pandemic, I decided to try a bunch of different things like all the variety of ramen and ramen-like products available on Amazon (there are some VERY quality instant ramens out there, but it'll cost you a few dollars more than your typical 25-cent pack of Maruchan or Nissin), and also instant coffee. What a weird thing to try all the varieties of during a pandemic, right? Well, in a pinch I've always come to rely on the trusty Medaglia D'Oro instant espresso for a quick, alright-tasting pick me up when I don't have the time to brew a cup of coffee (yes, I know it only takes a few minutes, but bear with me here, this is my journey, not yours!). It also makes for a quick way to add coffee flavor to cakes, cupcakes, brownies, etc. without brewing. Around $15 may seem like a lot to spend on instant coffee, but you get a fairly big bag of this stuff. It's a super fine granule, and a couple of tablespoons to a cup of water (hot or cold, more on that in a moment) goes a long way. I usually do 10oz hot water to 1 measured, leveled tablespoon of the coffee. Mix, add some cream, and it's actually quite good. This instant coffee, unlike some of its cheaper, name-brand counterparts, isn't overly strong or bitter. It's a fairly smooth and tasty coffee, all of that coffee flavor. One bag lasts quite a bit of time. I've had some of the lower quality (sorry, but it's true) brands of instant coffee, as well. You know, the super name brand stuff you find on every supermarket store shelf. They're usually overly bitter and strong tasting. Is it caffeine? You bet your shoelaces they are, champ. Can it be improved with enough cream and sugar? Well, slugger, I don't know about you, but ... ok they cannot. They just become creamy, weirdly sweet, bitter drinks. These also don't make for very good iced coffee. Iced coffee, you say? Well, yes! See, I'm originally from Boston, and in Boston you drink iced coffee year round. Minus 30 in the middle of a friggin' blizzard with 4 foot high snowdrifts and your cah's buries and you can't get out to buy bread and milk? Iced coffee, it's wicked pissah after all. (also there's this thing called Dunkin Donuts and it's kind of big in Boston, and while their coffee isn't great, their iced coffee is actually quite good especially on a hot summer day) See, most of the instant coffee brands out there have a super coarse dried coffee granule. This means it reacts best to hot water to dissolve. Sure you can chill it and ice it afterwards, but why go through all those steps just to have an iced coffee that's a bit too strong, bitter, and doesn't taste as good as it should? Anthony's instant coffee is a very fine grind. It practically melts in cold water, and then you can toss in a couple of ice cubes and some cream and sugar (although, sugar dissolves easier in hot water, so maybe simple syrup), and you have yourself what tastes like a better version of Dunkin Donuts iced coffee, and definitely not as rudely sharp as some of Starbucks. And if you're wondering why I left out Tim Horton's, well, they don't seem keen on iced coffee. :) So in closing, I've tried a lot of the instant coffees on the market in the last year, and Anthony's is my favorite by far for flavor, smoothness, value, and versatility.

Great Coffee - Very Convenient!
This is my favorite instant coffee. It is very finely ground and lasts 2-3 times longer than the same sized container of other instant coffees. There is no fluff here — it’s smooth (not bitter) and the Anthony’s mission is a good one. I would say it is medium-bold with low acidity and did not affect my stomach comfort. Great size for the money, nice appearance and smell - I think the caffeine content is “normal”.

Great Organic Instant Coffee
This is my go-to instant coffee, and it never disappoints. The flavor is genuinely good—smooth, balanced, and far better than what you’d expect from instant coffee. What really sets it apart is how easily it dissolves, even in cold water, making it perfect for iced coffee or quick mornings on the go. No clumps, no gritty residue—just great-tasting coffee in seconds.

Recommended for mild flavor and strength.
This is a quality product but was a bit weak on flavor and strength. Great for those not looking for a robust flavor and a medium caffeine content.

Best instant coffee I’ve tried!
I bought this to try. And I am very pleased with it. Ease to make, quick, tastes great … it is so convenient as well. I really like Anthony’s products. I regularly buy the cocoa, milk powder and now the coffee. Wonderful products!

Great price for organic coffee in the current market
I used to drink Mount Hagen and had a subscription to buy in bulk 6 at a time. It's not the best tasting coffee but I appreciated the lack of jitters that comes with organic coffee and Mount Hagen was readily available in grocery chains in my area so that seemed to add to its "clout". However, the price increases became cost prohibitive / ridiculous. Honestly, the BEST organic instant coffee IMO is Sprouts light roast but the cost in the store is now on par with Mount Hagen and I will see the taste was inconsistent. For 14 ounces, Anthony's is a good deal for the price, I would rate it second to Sprouts for flavor but they are both very different and coffee is a very personal subjective journey in life. It took a little bit of adjustment to figure out how much Anthony's I needed to use to get a more robust flavor that is still on the light roast side so it's hard to gauge the cost savings. But it does have a rich coffee taste once you figure out what works for your taste plus a nice crema and I hate running all over town to find 3.53 oz of Sprouts. Just signed up for a subscription since it's the best of both a reasonable price and great flavor in these times. I'm on my 2nd bag and also considered the flavor consistency when rating.

Super Smoooooth 😎
Watched a video that named my instant coffee brand I usually drink as “problematic for your health”, to put it mildly 😳🤦♂️ Went searching for a healthier alternative and landed here 😎👍 Just made a cup 10 minutes ago and this cup of Joe is so smoooooth…. I used the two teaspoon suggestion in 8 ounces of water and in my opinion, there is ZERO bitterness 😎👍 I don’t mind bitter or strong so much but this was all coffee flavor and zero bitterness, this stuff rocks 😎👍

This is perfect coffee for when one needs a quick drink in minimal time. 2 teaspoons with 300ml water/milk makes a nice coffee. This is my go to option when don't have time for the full coffee routine of grinding, brewing, etc.
