Its light weight, shoots far, easy to carry so in my opinion it is better.

Is it easy to shoot and reload for a 5yr old?

You reload by putting the darts one at a time in the front like in the picture. My 10 year old said it does take some effort to cock it back before shooting. Not difficult, just takes some pull back force on the spring loaded purple part.
