I needed a tool to introduce the culture of Mexico to a bunch of young kids. I have been to Mexico hundreds of times. I also purchased a book called "If You Were Me and Lived in Mexico" that was the recipient of several awards, but hands down this book is the real winner and not just with me...with the kids too. First the vibrant colors of the book mirrors the colorful culture of Mexico. There is so much going on in each illustration that makes it engaging for kids and its authentic too. On each page you learn key words...food is la comida, friends is los amigos, etc… it differs from page to page. What I also like about this book is it keeps kids entertained. With each turning of the page there is an abundance of culture to be seen. See pictures... My favorite part is that the book includes key facts about Mexico (it is the 8th largest nation in the world), etc. a Brief breakdown of the History of Mexico starting 10,000 BCE...first Spanish phrases that are actually useful such as "How much does it cost? ¿Cuanto cuesta?" or "My name is... Me llamo..." "Please...Por favor". Overall great book that not only engages kids but really opens them up to the authentic culture of Mexico in a fun and exciting way. Review: Gorgeous Book - I just got this book for my 3 year old daughter. We are both equally mesmerized by the colorful images; you can practically hear the music and feel the warm sun just flipping through the pages. I also love that the mom is carrying the baby in a sling in some of the pictures. The story itself is fun to read. As my daughter and I look at the pictures and point out all the different things she sees, it's great to have the Spanish words there to repeat to her.

We love reading this beautifully illustrated book the shows the story of a family on vacation in Mexico. We read it over and over and dream of Mexico. It's nice that there is both Spanish & English in the book as well.

Happy
This is a nice colorful happy book on Mexico for little kids. Exactly what we wanted for the kindergartners for the continent study on North America. Also includes teaching of some Mexican words.

ótimo livro para crianças entre 3-7 anos. As ilustrações são lindas, a estória é alegre e no final do livro há diversas curiosidades sobre o local em que se passa a estória.

I bought this because my 3 year-old LOVES "Sailing Down the Nile", also by Laurie Krebs. I also love the Nile book. It is much more informative than this Mexico book and the prose flows much better. I was hoping Mexico would be approached in much the same way, especially as that's where his grandparents live. Sadly not, but still an okay book.

Both my kids, toddler and 4 year old, love this book. It has a nice rhyme and flow, and is bilingual. The illustrations are bright and beautiful and includes introductions about Mexico's culture and history in a fun way.

A great book to introduce the culture of Mexico with Reception aged children. Pictures are bright and appealing, and as it rhymes, there was a lot to pick up on and use in class. The children enjoyed looking through the book independently, and found many interesting things to comment on. It is not totally comprehensive, but gives a very definite flavour of a fascinating country. It also includes a brief history section, common Spanish vocabulary and numbers, all of which combine with the easy-to-remember text to make a good multi-cultural experience, as well as just being enjoyable.
