One of our most cravable breads...this is the loaf with the blistered, bubbly crust and distinctive, tangy flavor. We don't make ours overly sour; we think you will find it one of the most balanced in flavor you will ever try. We use only organic flour, sea salt, and water, along with our own "mother," which is the naturally fermented, watery dough-like mixture where the sourdough culture lives and breathes. This culture is good for your health, much in the same way yogurt is.

DO NOT BUY if you want San Francisco Sourdough
OBVIOUSLY these people and a few reviews have NOT tasted REAL San Francisco Sourdough. My husband was stationed IN San Francisco, we are natives of California, we've eaten and LOVED sourdough bread, when I read favorable reviews of this company, I WAS SO HOPING for that SO WONDERFUL taste.SADLY that hope was dashed. Upon opening the package, I could smell what I'll term "overbaked" bread...my next test, I sliced off the end, took a pinch to TEST to see, NO tart, sour taste 😥, so o.k., I read the "tips" on spraying with water to dampen crust, pop in oven and bake at recommended heat & time. Oh sure, the crust got crunchy, BUT since the loaves WERE over baked already, NOW the were crossing into BURNT.NEVER AGAIN...I'll stick to BOUDIN Bakery (using166yr old mother) brand, to make their bread, the bread served at Disneyland.

Deilcious sourdough
I ordered this loaf of sourdough bread for my son, who loves sourdough, but complained that the sourdough bread we get at the local grocery store is not nearly as good as the authentic San Francisco sourdough. He absolutely loves this bread! We had tried ordering a few other brands online as well, but he says that this bread is by far the best he has had. It tastes delicious when you mist with water and bake it as recommended on the package, when you first get it.I just wish it weren't so expensive to have it shipped!

This is the real stuff -- and it is fantastic
I live on an Island in Maine. Whenever I go to the "big city" I buy wonderfulsourdough bread. But there are times when I cannot go to the mainland.I went out on a limb and ordered this.It is way, way beyond expectations. It is exactly as I remembered sourdoughbread tasting while I in San Francisco.Thank you so much Dorothy Lane!

Just say NO
This bread, besides being overpriced was dry as a bone. I prepared according to the instructions, but was so disappointed. Save your money and get a loaf at the grocery store. You will be better off. What a waste.

Great Bread
I don't know what people are talking about the bread being too dry honestly. I got the sourdough and the farmhouse loaf, both were great. Even after I froze the sourdough for two weeks, I put it in the fridge for a day or so and ate it. It was fine. If your bread is too dry rehydrate it, water and heat is all it takes.I've ordered from this seller 5+ times and have always enjoyed the product.

Shame on Me!
I love good sour dough bread but $11.00 for a loaf of bread? Shame on me. Never do that again.

This was the driest bread I have ever tried to ...
This was the driest bread I have ever tried to eat. I tried what the instructions said and put some water on it and reheat. It did nothing. It is very flavorless.

Not gluten free
Although advertised in the gluten free section of Amazon this bread is not gluten free and I had to give it away because they don’t accept returns. Very disappointed
