I keep buying these for our HVAC technicians to determine how much glycol is circulating in boiler systems for radiant heat and snow melt systems. They work really well, even for people with glasses. And since they are reasonably priced, I do not get too upset if a technician loses one or forgets it on the job site.

Great to have this unit with both propylene and ethanol glycol scales. Additionally, for each it provides freeze protect temperature in Fahrenheit and percent glycol. The calibration reset seems to work well. Yes, it's not an laboratory quality instrument, but seems reasonably well built. It has worked fine for me as a home mechanic taking care of several vintage vehicles.

I was impressed with how easy this was. I have a hydronic floor heating system and had to add (distilled) water to it since it had slowly burped some out. I needed to know the freeze protection level, and this was easy to use and gave me a reading that seemed exactly where it should have been. I plan to flush the system next summer and this will come in handy for setting the dilution for the glycol since I do not know the total capacity of the system. It was easy to read and is a nice tool to have for this use.

I have used it to test by ethylene Glycol and propylene glycol antifreeze and it gives very easy results. I also used it to test the water in the bilge of my boat to see if it was salt water from the ocean or fresh water from rain.

At first I was looking for a refractometer just to test the quality of DEF fluid before I put it into my truck and to troubleshoot any poor quality DEF messages. I didn't know they made 4 in 1 testers until I started searching on Amazon. After reading the reviews on several refractometers I decide to purchase this 4-in-1 tester. I like the fact that it reads in fahrenheit and not celsius. It automatically compensates for temperature between 50 and 86 deg F. and tests 4 different types of fluid. Ethylene glycol based antifreeze ( DEX Cool ) , Propylene based antifreeze, Battery fluid and Def Fluid. It also has an adjustable eye piece to adjust the focus when looking thru the unit. It comes with a pull string storage pouch, 4 plastic eye dropper tubes to sample fluids, a lens cleaning cloth, instruction pamphlet and a tiny screw driver to adjust the calibration. It is a compact unit, approx 6" long. Calibration is checked by using distilled water. I checked the calibration of my unit out of the box and the calibration was dead on. For the price this is a great tester. I recommend it.

Je fais du Kombucha et je voulais savoir si il y avait beaucoup de sucre. Après avoir testé avec des boissons zéro sucres et boissons très sucrées, j'ai pu vérifier que ça fonctionne très bien. Et ça vient avec un petit tournevis pour régler la lecture et une pipette pour extraire et déposer le liquide sur la plaque de lecture. Excellent produit.

The scale of this refractometer shows brix% and not antifreeze concentration like what is advertised. One star for false advertising.

Did not include Glycol readings on the visible scale. Useless.
