Why did you choose this product over others?: Items arrived intact but not installed yet as the fly zapper came with two installed, so these were bought for spares as the tubes should be changed every six months or so.

Bug zapper tubes, Uv to attract the flies/mossies and then zaps them, with no remorse.... Allways a good thing if it culls the summer scourge of bugs and flies, backed up with tennis racket zappers too

I buy these as replacement tubes for my UV fly killer and typically get one full summer’s use from each set. After that, they start to lose effectiveness and show signs of burning out being the classic blackening at the ends inside the tube. This is a normal sign of wear, caused by the electrode material evaporating and settling. When you see it, it’s time to replace both the tube and the starter. These bulbs do work well, but don’t expect commercial-grade longevity. At roughly 3,000 hours per year in a residential setting (when bugs are in season), they’re cost-effective. Yes, you could buy a more expensive set that might last two or three summers, but for my needs, these work out just as economically. You also get new starters included, which is a nice touch. The tubes at 300mm in length or 12 inch and starters fit my Insect-O-Cutor PlusZap model 16 perfectly. Important: Always unplug and isolate the unit from the mains before attempting to be replace anything as these devices do what they’re designed to do and they will zap you with around 2000v at 5mA (that is 0.005 of a whole amp) from their capacitor charged discharge banks. Replacing the tubes requires a quarter turn (clockwise or anti-clockwise) and a gentle downward wiggle to release. The starters remove and fit the same way with a simple quarter turn. At 8 watt they are bright enough to light the room. Prolonged exposure to UV light can damage your eyesight: Most UV bug zappers use UV-A light, typically around 350–370 nm. This is the least harmful UV range but can still cause eye damage with prolonged or close-range exposure. All in all, a reliable budget option for home use, but avoid for commercial settings as you’ll burn through them too quickly hence only 4*.

Two of the bulbs failed prematurely. Manufacturer refunded full price paid. I would not hesitate to buy these bulbs again - because they work and I now see that manufacturer backs up their product when failure reported.
