Almost a brilliant waterbottle....almost
I was about to give a gushingly positive review of the bottle however I have to mindful of the marketing spin.I justified the price tag by how good it made me feel like a good human by paying paying for my consumerism in not wanting to use plastic to hold my clean water. Cheaper and lighter than the steel alternative, aluminum is also recyclable for a good number times ( lets not dig into bauxite mines in Patagonia that get the metal in the first place) this is a great material for forming into good shape for a bike water bottle that will fit the majority of bottle cages well enough compared to other brands. It is descent size and it looks cool in the raw aluminum with minimalist graphics. There is a slight weight and price saving compared to stainless steel and definitely cheaper than titanium. The only thing I absolutely could not recommend this bottle for is potential of contamination from the polymer coating (polyester) inside the bottle to protect you from the aluminum. Yes this is BPA free however polymers and plastics come with a long list of other parts or/and BPA replacements that could potentially be as bad.So in effect this could be seen as a minor step up from a fully plastic water bottle but still not the same inertness as a good quality stainless steel bottle.I love the aesthetics, the form and design details of the serviceability of the mouthpiece. BUT If you are really thirsty you WILL end up sucking on the mouthpiece with a small degree of force and the back pressure will close it back up and preventing flow of water, Yikes! nothing you need if you are riding a bike. Remember you can't squeeze out the water in this! So best for leisure riding and leisurely sipping ( just like the marketing images)I wish SIGG did a Stainless version of this very bottle or at least dumped the polymer coating for a ceramic or copper alloy deposition I got too eager to dump the plastic and ended up with, well, plastic again mainly due to a lack of really good options for cyclist water bottles. For their price I will be less distraught is on or both were to "hike' themselves out of their cages on a rough gravel route compared to $50-100 for the safer/safest alternatives I was looking at before I got these.I really wanted to like it but I ended up returning both bottles due to the facts 1- Low flow rate and 2- Yes, it is BPA free but it is still a plastic (polyester) coating.

I appreciate the lack of plastic, but the cap is not great
I appreciate that this water bottle contains minimal plastic, and dents and scratches are expected when using it with a bike water bottle holder, so I don't mind those. The top is easy to open and use while riding; however, the plastic "ring" portion of the cap broke, so now it leaks. There seem to be replacement caps available, but it's frustrating that after only 3 months of use, I need to replace the plastic portion of this water bottle, and the replacement cap costs approximately half of the bottle's original price.
