Our child was interested to know where pearls come from. We bought this product to give him an experience. We were initially hesitant to purchase this product because some of the reviews were bad…”no pearl”, “pearl looked cheap”. Also, some of the reviews mentioned the necklace was of low quality (this is true). We decided to take the chance and buy this product and hoped Amazon would refund us if there was no pearl inside. To our pleasant surprise, we found a purple pearl inside, and our son was happy to go through the experience of opening up the clam shell and finding it. The pearl looks shiny and egg shaped. It may be a fake pearl, but you get what you pay for. It was really the experience we were after anyway. Be careful when you open the razor clam. It is sharp and could cut skin. The tiny, plastic tool that comes with the package to open the clam is not easy to handle if you’ve got no experience opening oysters or clams and/or if you have limited manual dexterity. If this is you, it’s probably better to break the clam with a pair of pliers. We are from the west coast, so it was no problem for us, having opened many an oyster over the years. We did not see any glue in the clam shell, like some the reviews mentioned. Overall a worthwhile experience for less that $20. If we cared about the necklace, our rating would have been 3 or 4 stars. We just wanted this product for the experience of opening a clam to find a pearl which is exactly what we got.

Okay this is beautiful! I opened it and I was stunned! The quality of the love necklace blew me away for the price! It took a bit to get to the pearl! So much fun to see what color pearl was waiting for me! Would make a great gift !

Bought this for a Christmas present for my daughter and niece and they both loved it they both got pink pearls out of it I was expecting at least one to be different but it's pretty cool and exciting for an 8 year old to do
