The most impactful course I've ever purchased
As background, I have played for nearly 40 years. I’m not a bad player but had pretty much given up on certain pieces altogether and getting other pieces clean / consistent.I already used a metronome to practice and considered myself somewhat of a ‘human loop machine’ in that I would find the difficult parts of a solo and play that on repeat. However, Chris takes this approach to another level, isolating the parts where things go wrong, exaggerating the challenges, and then overcoming them. So the book has allowed me to understand better where things are going wrong, and where to focus.Another thing that would kill me would be playing certain solos fine one day, and then the next day, I’d have lost the ability completely. In fact, some days, my hands would just feel like lead and I couldn’t do much about it. The book has a huge variety of finger independence and coordination exercises, and a lovely list of finger combinations that you go through to find the ones you find hard…and work on those till they improve. So now, I have a method for general warming up, but also when my hands aren’t listening to me 😊 where I go through certain exercises, certain combinations, and a few other things that I’ve cherry picked, and it works….my hand then do what I need them to do.The sum result is that over the last few weeks, I’ve been picking pieces that I’ve not been able to play before, and then reaching out for new challenges. Stuff that I’ve been working on includes; Eugene’s Trickbag, the Bark at the Moon solo, Cowboys from Hell, Out in the Fields solo, the first few minutes of Altitudes etc. I can also now to play some of my own riffs / solos better that had always been problematic for me.Of course, this is an ongoing endeavour and always more to work on….but this book just unlocked something for me.I’ve been enjoying this so much, I still need to go back and work more on the last two chapters that are actually specifically about speed, so plenty more for me to do. This isn’t a one and done book. And then I’ve got earlier books from Chris that I want to go back and work through. In summary, the book is a winner!

Not really used it yet.
But have started reading it, as I do with most guitar books I have bought. Looks as though it will help me improve my picking and speed. Looks very helpful!

Fix your technique
This book is not a tutorial on how to play guitar. It will not teach chord shapes, bending, licks, or, well, anything that isn't about mechanics of fast and fluid picking, legato, and sweeping lines. It will, however, build (or fix) your technique from the ground up, and help you be the best you can be. A must have for any guitarist, serious *or* casual.

Great product
With so many examples to learn to progress it will take me years to get comfortable playing to the authors standard. Great videos to show what the target looks like!

Adds the discipline I really need!
Picked up my teenage guitar again recently and finally getting down to understanding some theory - all well and good. But I realised I need some help with disciplined practice, particularly to build up accurate speed etc. This book seems to be working for me. Clearly set out exercises with help and tips. Full audio and some bonus video content too. Very pleased so far; will explore other titles in the series for sure.

The Need, the Need for Speed!
Experienced players may not have much use for this book however beginner to intermediate players will definitely benefit from such a great book that the rest of us seasoned players could have done with years ago. Chris Brooks is definitely the ultimate go to guy when it comes to no nonsense lessons and this book shows just that. Go get this book to add to your Chris Brooks collection. 12/10 👍
