Works as advertised
This is a review of the Redshift ShockStop Stem and Seatpost. I purchased and installed both products, and they were complete game changers for my ride. I bought the 27.2 x 350 mm Seatpost, and the 90 mm 6 degree stem. I installed them on my Trek Domane AL5 2025. The Seatpost was a bit longer than stock, but my fit is a fairly high seat, so there were no issues. It easily met the minimum insertion requirements. The stem was +/- 6 degree, my stock stem was +/- 7 degree so it was reasonably close. I installed it as +6 and it didn't change my ride geometry enough to be an issue. For the seatpost, a quick read of the instructions made it easy to understand how to setup the preload. I set the preload slightly soft for my weight, greased the stem, and installed it on my bike. I was careful to follow torque recommendations for tightening the stem in place. Installing the seat on the seatpost was a little bit of a challenge. the Redshift seatpost is a 2 screw mount, they are accessible, but not easily. It is a balance act to tighten both to set the correct seat angle, but with some loosening of one screw and tightening of the other, it can be accomplished. I would say that installing the seatpost took about 45 minutes to get it just how I wanted. I expect changing the preload to take me about 5 minutes, and there are clear markings in cm to aid me in installing the seat to the exact height that it was previously installed at. For the stem, a quick read of the instructions identified that I was at the very bottom of my weight group for what elastomers to install. The next combination down was a significant change. The instructions stated that I could go onto Redshift's website and view a complete list of combinations. This was slightly challenging. On the page for the stem there is no information about elastomer selection. On the support page I did find links to a video and pdf for elastomer selection. I elected to view the pdf, and printed it. Sure enough there were 2 combinations between the 2 options listed on the instructions. I selected the stiffer of the two (just below the one recommended for my wight). I mounted the stem on my bike, and mounted my handlebars. Again make note of the torque recommendations, Redshift has had them engraved on the stem, so they are hard to miss. This also took about 45 minutes. To change the elastomers, I will have to unmount my handlebars and remove a retaining plate from my stem. I do not look forward to my expected 25 minutes or so just to change elastomers. I took my bike out for a nice long ride, 20 miles, 15 MPH, and asphalt. The only downside to this trail, and the reason I bought the Redshift parts, is that there are several points where tree roots have pushed up the asphalt and created some very jarring speedbumps. Without the Redshift products, these were uncomfortable at best, and sometimes made me feel like I was on the edge of controlling my handle bars. This ride, with both installed, the seat was easy to manage, and did not hit hard. With the stem installed, I could still feel every twig and root, but it was very much dampened. You do not feel disconnected from the road, but you are very much more in control. By the end of the ride, I felt less fatigue in my arms and less soreness from the seat. While researching elastomers, I read that there is a break-in period, I would say that by the end of my 20 mile ride, the stem did offer better bump dampening than it did at the start, but I do feel that the elastomer selection I made from the support pdf was spot on. Pros: They do exactly as they advertise Clear instructions (with the exception of elastomer selection) Relatively simple installation More control Less shock Well manufactured Clean looking Cons: Neither of these items are what I would call cheap 2 bolt connection for the seat is fiddly, but manageable Elastomers, the best list is online only and not as easily found as I would have thought The listing for the stem is clear that it is a 6 degree stem, but it is hard to identify if it will install as +, - or both They only come in black, not an issue for me as I was replacing black parts with black parts, but some might like other colors Summary: If you have the money, and want a smoother ride, these are quality parts to compliment and soften your ride.

Expensive? You bet. Worth it? Absolutely!
After more than fifty years and over 250,000 miles on a bike, this is one of the top three transformative bicycle components I've ever tried. I installed it on my "adventure" e-bike, which has a bone-rattling all aluminum frame and weighs in at over 50lbs. Combine that with a slender individual who lacks natural padding, down there, and you get a situation that sounds like a Yahtzee game every time I hit a bump! I've experimented with several suspension posts over the years, but they all fell short for various reasons. Some were too stiff, providing no discernible benefit. Others were so soft that a significant portion of your pedaling effort was wasted flexing the seatpost spring rather than propelling you forward. And all didn't offer the required range of adjustment or granularity needed to properly fine-tune the suspension to my needs. But Redshift got it just right! You can adjust and fine tune the suspension to your particular performance and stiffness preferences over a large range. What I appreciate most is its smooth and precise action without feeling overly spongy or sloppy. It has never "bottoms out" or rebounds inappropriately after absorbing a large bump for me. There's no noticeable yo-yo effect when you're putting out maximum pedaling effort, and it effectively dampens post-bump rebounding. It's akin to driving a classic Citroen DS with Hydropneumatic suspension! Make sure to follow the installation instructions, especially regarding the seat's fore and aft position and the seat height, as they WILL be different from your usual settings. I intend to purchase four more of these for my other non e-bikes.

What a Difference!!!
Unbelievably great! I am almost 68...and riding my fabulous ebikes ( Freesky Alaska and Wild Cat are mine... . Wife has a Freesky Rocky) bikes are my daily exercise . For daily use my Alaska (big one...dual batteries) does laps around our 3 acres nightly, usuallyat over14 mph. I have extra lighting so I miss most of the ruts/potholes in the yard...but I always manage to find them. All 3 of our bikes have full...front and rear....suspension but a 6" hole 4" deep at 12mph plus still transmitts that jolt into your back even with a great older age gentleman wide seat. I added this yesterday..... Unbelievable! It definitely catches what the rear shock doesn't catch and it's fluid smooth! I can’t describe the difference. It is fully tunable...so as I loose weight, adjustmen is super easy! VERY SATISFIED!!! Because my ebikes are 30.9mm tubes, be sure to get the correct shim....I purchased a 27.5 to 30.9. Excellent fit! I also replaced my lever quick release with one that is more secure...that is tightened via a hex screw. I am about to purchase a 2nd one for my Wild Cat....and I'm sure once my wife tries it...it will be a third purchase. FYI...Because of the larger tube and beefed up locking ring, I am not using the provided "magnetic fender". Get this...your back is worth every penny! I'm an engineer...and a pilot...and appreciate well engineered things...this gets a 10 out of 5 star rating!! Oh....it's also a little shorter than others available out there..90mm from max insertion to seat rail. Most of the others average over 100mm.

Performs as advertised.
I’m so happy with my red shift seat post that my two riding mates just ordered them. As far as I’m concerned, these should be standard equipment on all bikes. They are very comfortable and perform as advertised.

I used to use a Thudbuster and loved it for 20 years. Then my mountain bike frame cracked and I moved to a full carbon gravel bike. Recently some cretin stole that bike so I bought an aluminum city bike. I used to own aluminum but forgot how unforgiving the material is until I took this one out on the streets of Tokyo and felt all the chatter and bumps through me. So I decided to invest in this product and I could not be happier! It was super easy to install, it already came preloaded perfectly for my weight and slid into the seat tube smoothly. The saddle bindings are unique and we’re not at all difficult to adjust, making getting the saddle angle just right, a snap. Suddenly I feel like I have rear suspension again! The road chatter is gone and the bumps and divots smooth right out. I look forward to many years of riding with this product. The team in the US was great, very helpful, responsive and a pleasure to work with. They answered all my questions and more so I am very happy with the service as well. Thank you Team Redshift Sports!

This is my 3rd order from RedShift Seatpost Suspension. Did ride with the first purchase for more then 1500Km and still keep goin without any issue. You can read more review from internet but here are my personal views base on my own experience without bias. Advantage: 1) Enhance your riding experience. The suspension will soak all the small bumps and small vibration from your rear tyre. 2) You will clock in more mileage due to induce fatigue. 3) If you have any back pain issue and wanted to ride, this seatpost for you. 4) Zero maintenance. 5) Every single ride will make a big smile on your face. Disadvantage: 1) Weight penalty, add more weight to your bike, around 415g for 350mm & 380g for 280mm.(Specs taken from Redshift website) 2) Pedal bob effect reduced your power transfer. 3) For adjustment, you need to removed the seatpost. 4) Design only for circular seatpost and not for aero seatpost design. 3) Expensive for single component. Hope this will help you guys for the purchase.
