Matchbox 15-inch Recycling Truck, Lights & Sounds, Toy Cards for Kids Made from 80% ISCC-Certified Plastic

My kid got the garbage truck bug early (15 months, maybe?) which created a dilemma--most garbage truck toys are not appropriate for really little ones. He already had a couple of super simple rear loader trucks but they weren't that fun for him at that stage. I did a lot of obsessive research before getting this truck for his 2nd birthday. Most side loader toy trucks are too hard for a two year old to operate and have delicate parts that break easily. This thing has held up SO well and is SO well loved. He's had it for 7 months now, and those have been mostly quarantine months with no daycare, so I'm pretty sure they should count at least double. He's played with it every day except on a couple of trips where we left it at home. He's loaded it up with rocks, sticks, sand, leaves, pinecones, Cheerios, every toy with small parts, torn up junk from our recycling bin, dirty socks, smaller garbage trucks (because the obsession has no limits), the dog's leash, and basically everything else he can get his hands on (if my car keys ever go missing, I will definitely check the truck). The arm is sturdy and flexible enough that it's held up to some rough handling and still works great. The trash can that comes with it has also held up great, and he's destroyed dozens of other toy trash cans in the time he's had this truck. We try not to leave it out in the elements because I want it to live forever, but it's definitely survived a few days out in the sun and doesn't seem to have faded at all. With the one negative review about not being able to replace the trash can in mind, I haven't let him carry the trash can all over town so we don't risk losing it. A lot of the time he plays with other toy trash cans with this truck anyway--they don't fit the arm so he just pretends. I didn't put batteries in it until a few weeks ago. I put it off because the truck was already plenty of fun without the lights and sounds and because enough things in our house already make noise. Once I finally broke down and put batteries in it, I was pleasantly surprised at how not annoying it is. It has 2 volume settings and the quieter one is delightfully tolerable. Basically, the only way I could love this truck more than I do is if it could cook dinner and do the dishes.

I've worked in Early Education for 25 years. Children learn through play and this one is great because the sounds are so realistic and the child can fill the trash can with small toys to dump. The rear doors do open so that you can dump all the trash but I'd like it better if the cabin doors opened so that children could place small figures in the cabin to drive the truck. I realize the price would be much higher if made of metal but it would be worth it for longevity of the toy. Overall, a really nice toy with lots of learning opportunities!!!

My son, 2.5, loves this truck! It's easy for him to do the dumping action, unlike a lot of other trucks out there where it's a bit too tricky for a toddler to attach the cans to the truck and make it dump into the hopper. He has 5 other garbage trucks - this is his favorite and the only one he can use really well without help. In fact, we bought this one because he broke another side-loader truck trying to force it to work, but the parts were too finicky. This one is sturdy and simply designed for imprecise little hands to manage. It does make noise - but they are realistic truck noises and nothing too super annoying.

Great gift for a toy car lover, or any toddler who loses their mind twice a week when the garbage and recycling truck comes by. It has a sound off switch on the bottom!! The sound is activated from a push button on the cab, by moving backwards or forwards randomly, or a pressure switch that WILL go off after every bump, wiggle or jiggle. Good sized truck, fits plenty of cars and misc items in the back recycler. Has an arm lift that picks the can up and can dump it, but a standard matchbox can fit on the arm close enough and be "dumped" as well. Both boys (2yo/5yo) regularly include it in their playtime.

I’m one of the few youtube “garbage truck fetish” people. I buy these trucks to make videos of them, and sometimes for fun, since some of us just never grow up haha. Being that it was a matchbox and the few matchboxes I’ve owned were plagued with issues, I was apprehensive to purchasing this. I decided to, and I don’t regret it. This truck, for the price, is one of the best I’ve seen. I took mine apart (Don’t do this if you would like to keep the electronics intact, since I happened to not care about the sounds, but they are really cool) and discovered the arm is a brilliant design. No gears to get stuck, no motors to die, it’s all just wheels and connection rods with a Phillips screw that requires a bit of torque to work on, but is easy enough. I see other reviews talking about replacement bins, while a downside does show up in the lack of availability to them, this can be worked around by placing a rubber band on the grabbers, this allows any type of bin that isn’t too big to sit tightly within the grippers. So any extra trash cans can be made compatible that way. All around this is a great truck and one I highly recommend for children. I see myself adding a few more of these to my fleet in the future to save for my own kids and grandkids.

Bought for my two year old. It's exactly right for his age (doors to open and close, a simple moving bin claw lever, the resemblance to the beloved recycling truck, rolls really well). The window stickers were bubbly and off center on both the first I ordered (clearly returned by another custome before sent to me) and the second. Since it's for my two year old, I opted to keep it. I'm tearing off the stickers, because they annoy me and I'll have to use some goo gone, but the rest is exactly what I was looking for for my toddler.

My 12 y/o son has autism and he is obsessed with garbage trucks! I purchased this excellent truck for his b-day and he is absolutely thrilled with it! PROS - realistic looking, large size, well-built and sturdy, comes with 3 AA batteries, easy to operate for a younger child, lights and sounds are intuitive as well as manual - the truck makes noises on its own depending on if it's being moved forward or backward, holds up to hours and hours of play. CONS - really none, except the fact that it only comes with one garbage can but it stays well attached to the 'arm', so can refill and dump it multiple times.

High quality, typical of Matchbox. Very realistic. An excellent toy to play with. Some might buy it to "send a message" about recycling, which is fine. But it's just great fun, and any child that has fun first and foremost with it will come to understand the importance of taking out the trash, recycling when you can, without taking away the joy of just simple play with a nice, fun truck with wheels and gadgets.
