I was a little worried with some of the reviews i read. It does work well. On the full spectrum mode it delivers a "daylight" type light (red, blue and white LEDs). We have a turtle and he climbed up to bask in it's glow. In the blue mode it has a deep blue glow to it, but I don't find that very useful. It would be nice if it had a built in timer, but hey, it has a switch. I have a hood with a plexiglass window to allow the light through. This protects the lamp from getting wet. I don't think i would mount it over open water just because there is always the possibility of splashes, or worse, it gets knocked into the water. Understand that last part and it should work well for you.

Just received yesterday and setup. The light comes in two segments, easy to assemble, but the middle joint does cause it to be a little flimsy and want to sag in the middle. Luckily my daughter is an avid Lego fan, so I used a black 1x16 underneath the middle, it's hardly noticeable and is the perfect height.

I’m currently using the 72”-84” full spectrum version on a low tech sparsely planted tank. It fits the bill for what I need it to do. I recommend using this light for simple low tech planted aquariums or if you are looking for better lighting in a fish only aquarium. Setup is dead simple, simply push the standing feet into the slots and plug it in. The feet rest on the perimeter of the aquariums rim or glass canopy. The moonlight option is really what sold me on this fixture. If you have nocturnal fish and want to see them in their full behavior moonlighting is awesome. The full spectrum light does provide enough light for hardy aquarium plants like java moss, swords, anubias etc. but don’t expect anymore or you’ll be disappointed. Out of the box controllability is not possible, there are no standard timers, dimmers, or spectrum controllers. A digital timer must be used in addition to this light and there is no option to automatically switch to moonlight mode, it must be done manually as needed. This unit is priced very fairly. If you want high PAR outputs and controllability you are simply going to have to pay a lot more for a different fixture. If you are in the market for a budget friendly option this is a winner.

I needed a light right away and this one did the trick, great for the price point. I like the simple switch to turn it off and on, nothing too fancy if you just want a straight up light. This light does not penetrate too far so if you’re looking for brightness may want to double up if sticking with this model. Although my water just received a large piece of fresh wood and had some rich tannins in it, the lighting is still ok. The slim body will sit well with two on the tank as well. However, structurally the middle does fall a little, so if using on an open top tank may want to consider some extra support. I show this in my video, it’s not extreme but should be considered. Mine is fine with the flush glass top. All in all with the different lights I’ve used over the years this one’s a decent straight up light without any bells and whistles.

I bought this light fixture for my 100 gallon planted cichlid tank. It is a full spectrum light, but it is not as bright as other lights I have. I have used two lights to get the light intensity for a planted tank. But not when they cost $170.00. They are great for a fish only tank. Pros: 1. Full Spectrum. 2. Longer lengths for larger tanks. A+ 3. Bright enough for fish. The fish look good under this light. 4. Runs cooler than other brands. Cons: 1. longer lights come in two pieces. Held together by loose fitting pins. The assembly is not firmly held together. 2. The two pieces are coupled using a large ugly cable. 3. Not bright enough for plants. 4. The light timer is sold separately. 5. The timer is total crap. It will not retain the correct time. This is essential for a timer. Better off saving the $30 and using a generic lamp timer. They work. Over all a nice light, a bit pricey and the sold separately timer sucks.

I got this light to replace my old fashion fluorescent lights (2 across the top of my 55 gal). I was burning them out frequently and they are not cheap either. First I have a wooden cover that slides over the sides and covers all that crap on top, this fit across my tank with room on both sides (about 3-4 inches) that allowed for my tank cover to still be placed on the tank. It is also low enough to not affect that cover. Other lights go over the edge, that would not work for me. The on/off/blue switch is down the cord, but not at the wall, not at the light. This allows it to stick out of the cover and makes it very simple to use without digging for it. No remote. The light is bright, and very effective on my tank. Looks great. The blue light is not a UV light, but does make a few of my plant appear to glow. It also provides enough light to view the fish nicely.

I bought the one for a 72” tank. It’s two separate pieces that are not even the same length so when I put them together, there will be a dark spot off to one side. It feels cheap and was rattling when I pulled it out of the box. The description said it’s one light, and it ain’t. Just not worth it. I didn’t even set it up, that’s how cheap it felt and how disappointed I was in the quality of this product.
