Not for an up do
Very pretty barrette but it's not strong enough to hold my hair in a basic knot on the back of my head. The clasp just pops open with that much hair. My hair is average thickness and I like to pull it up in a twist to get it out of my eyes. It can't close over the hair. But it's very pretty and works as a decorative barrette.

Worth the price
I love this barrette style - much longer and thinner than average. It also has a black fabric covering the bottom clip, which I guess helps protect your hair better? I have thin hair, so this works perfectly. No snags or loose flyaway hairs for this one. It's pricier than other options, but few barrettes are made in this style, so it's worth it to me.

Beautiful but hair slides out of it easier than other clips I’ve tried
Works fine for a few hours but my hair did start to slide out after awhile. It’s very pretty and lies flat against the head, which is unusual to find in this large of a clip. I found better value in other similar sized flat clips on Amazon, that worked better if the clip color isn’t considered a factor so deducted a star for that. This brand does have some of the prettier colors available for a 4” flat barrette clip. It’s stays in the hair, but due to hair slippage, I won’t be buying another one. This one works well enough that I won’t return it. It comes in a very pretty fabric (see through) bag which would be suitable for gift giving.

Indispensable if your hair is fine and medium length
Great find if your hair is fine and medium length like mine. Ordered a second one already. Looks refined and does the job. I definitely recommend it!
