M.I.A : A D88 Survival Gamebook

Very challenging and fun
I found this game book fun and adventurous as you get to choose how much you’re willing to gamble per scenario based upon your inventory and health. It plays fast and is very portable as you just need something to write with and two D6 dice.

Utterly broken
A lack of editing and testing has rendered this gamebook unplayable. The text is riddled with typos and the game system is simply broken. One example is that your character starts with 8 RPs. The first paragraph I then landed on instructed me to either spend 20 RPs and take injuries or spend 30 RPs and take no injuries. What? How?Or, beginning with a total of 14 points to spend on 6 skills with a minimum of 2 in each. There are only two combinations possible: 2,2,2,2,2,4 or 2,2,2,2,3,3. Then, you go to a paragraph that requires a Difficulty Level roll (DLV) of 22. The highest die roll possible is 16 (an 8 on both dice), and then you add your skill. See the problem? Simple math shows you the challenge is impossible, even with a perfect roll and using your highest possible starting skill (4). The author does offer two kludges which allow you modify die rolls in a feeble attempt around this glaring issue. These only serve to you remind you that the game wasn't planned out thoughtfully. Finally, the combat system uses a Winchester Roll where you expend 2-8 rounds of ammunition EVERY combat round. And every enemy requires multiple rounds of combat to defeat (the firearms are pathetically weak). And there are usually multiple enemies in an encounter. You'll burn through absurd amounts of ammo in every combat. Apparently, you're the worst aim in SAS history. There are many superior solo wargames and gamebook options out there. Don't spend your money on this one.

No editing done
Unfortunately I couldn’t get past the early stages of this book so I’m not sure of the quality of the content with regards to a game. The book has tons of grammatical errors that completely switched me off. Before releasing a game there should be some sort of proof reading done

MIA is a great name since Tables needed are Missing from Book
Waste of money. Tables mentioned in the book are missing. The author won’t respond to any questions or provide a picture of the missing table. So can’t play the game since the book is not complete. MIA is a great title though (since what’s needed is missing in action). Complete garbage.
