Very good product, well built seems to be holding up good.
Bought this for my ball python juvenile that acted crazy when bringing him out for cleanings. Its unfortionate that most people only associate a hook with venomous species however they are very useful for defensive animals as well, like baby ball pythons. If ur animal hisses n snaps n doesnt like u reaching in there for him this makes a very stressful event uneventful. This has totally changed our relationship as he trusts much more now and we sre beginning to work together more n build trust much quicker than before. He literally went from hissing n acting crazy to allowing me to pick him up with the hook and putting him in my hands he acts a little stiff for a min or 2 then relaxes. Very useful and very much a solid tool to help build trust. Totally recommend for pets that are new to u n scared n defensive.

It’s lightweight and handy.
When I bought this collapsible snake hook, I knew from the other reviewers that it was lightweight and not meant to be used on large or heavy snakes. I carry it in my work bag as a back up hook, but will use it as a primary hook on smaller snakes, even venomous species. It’s also handy for retrieving socks and other items from under the couch.

Better than expected
This was actually better than I expected. It is compact and sturdier than I expected for the price. It is perfect to be carried along on walks or hikes to move a small snake off the trail. It has the right amount of friction to keep it extended when in use without being difficult to retract. This is NOT something I would use to lift large, heavy-bodied venomous snakes or to use to catch snakes. Consider something that is not collapsible and of heavier construction if that is your plan.

Great for cat toys!
I bought this for an off-label use: fishing cat toys out from under my appliances. At least once a day, my kittens start crying for me to rescue their favorite toys from where they've lost them underneath the fridge or oven. I keep this hook on the counter, and it's super easy. The handle telescopes out long enough to reach anywhere toys might be hiding, and the hook catches them all and makes them super easy to pull out.

Broke within 2 minutes
Took the hook out of the box, extended it to full length (not that hardly either) and the whole telescoping mechanism came apart with no feasible way to put it back together, plus the metal is thin and flimsy so don't expect this hook to hold much weight (like seriously no more than 2 or 3 lb.s). I'd appreciate a refund to be honest.

Only good for pet snakes
Must be for pet snakes. Tried to use it on a rat snake to move it to safety and it'll just slide right off. LOL

Good price and works but has limitations
Cheap price and compact. Will be fine for small snakes. Do not try and pick up a thick 4 ft. rattler with this. The weight will bend or possibly break the end of the telescope. Small to medium size snakes only. Great for the price and compact but that also has limitations. You have to get closer to the snake to pick them up because its short. Snakes can strike over 1/3-1/2 the distance of there body lenght. Exercise caution while using on larger snakes.

Ok snake hook
It's nice except that the tip isn't blunted off or covered in rubber or anything. I havent really had to use it yet, but I worry that the sharp edge might harm a heavier snake. Otherwise it is fine, and the telescoping aspect is fun.
