Q: Why does this have a prop 65 warning?

I contacted the manufacturer. This was their response: Bromopropane (2-BP) 75-26-3. Bromoxynil. 1689-84-5. Bromoxynil octanoate. 1689-99-2. Butabarbital sodium. 143-81-7. 1,3-Butadiene. 106-99-0. 1,4-Butanediol dimethanesulfonate (Busulfan) 55-98-1. Butylated hydroxyanisole. 25013-16-5. Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP) 85-68-7. Chloro-2-methylpropene. I researched a bit on all of them. A couple sound just as bad to me (as far as carcinogens), as the CPs from the study. There doesn't seem to be an option for immersion blenders right now that isn't really toxic. There was on mentioned that is produced in an area where a lot of these chemicals are illegal, but it's super expensive and the reviews on it are terrible.

Q: is there a plastic ring in the center of the blade guard? What kind of material is it?

There is a tiny piece of plastic there or some kind of silicone rubber, I don’t really know what it is. The main reason I chose this was because it was one of the few models that did not Leach chlorinated paraffins. I wish there was a way not to have any plastic LOL!

Q: Has anyone put this on the top rack of a dishwasher to clean it? Manual says not to immerse the shaft and blade under running water (seriously!)

I would really like to get an answer to this, as the manual says nothing can go into the dishwasher and only the end of the blender bar can go under a tap -- and it cannot be immersed in water. But of course the end of the blender bar and several inches are immersed in liquid when used. I assume the idea is they want to be sure that the end which attaches to the motor is completely dry, ie cannot introduce any water into the motor. But the instructions are contradictory and unclear. I hope someone from Philips clarifies.
