Can you boil cook with these?

No. By accident I poured boiling water onto a bag in the sink...it didn't melt but was definitely damaged.

Before I chuck these in the garbage and write a bad review, is there a trick to getting them to zip again after running through the dishwasher?

They are extremely difficult to zip closed. Our 10 year old cannot do it and it is a test of patience every morning for me to get them closed myself. I hate the idea of chucking them in the garbage, so I just keep dealing with their terrible design, hoping that they loosen up over time or something. They will likely end up in the garbage at some point.
