Works well and leaves no gaps!
Very easy to open and close. Takes a little bit of force to close because it locks in place when you step on it. Assembly took about an hour and didn’t cause any issues. Light weight and sturdy high grade aluminum material. Length is good for a number of applications, from in house to garage attics. Good product

Great ladder at a great price!!
Measured the outer frame and framed in attic. Was easy to install by myself. Some people may need a second person. I did have to install a 3-1/2 x 3/4 x 53-1/2 piece of wood to one side of my truss to fit perfectly when framing it in. A door side framing piece of wood works great for this. The ladder works great!!

Great purchase
Bought this for my new home. It is a great purchase, very sturdy and feels like it will hold up for a long time. I was so pleased I bought another one for an additional attic space.

Vague Instructions, Poorly Assembled, Modifications Required.
If you are very handy and very mechanically inclined, and have a good assortment of tools, you will be able to overcome the issues that I faced with my unit. According to Amazon, this is a frequently returned item, so bear in mind, there will be issues. My first issue is the instructions. It looks like maybe a third of the required instructions are there. I almost feel obligated to write a new set of instructions and make a video and send it to these people. They ommit probably two thirds of the necessary directions for a safe installation. My second issue was the fact that this is stapled together. Not a problem, in and of itself, but there's an awful lot of tension in the gas assist struts, causing the end panel to push out as the staples bend. I remedied this by tapping the ends loose enough to squeeze in TiteBond 2 and then reattach with 2 inch screws, with a ratchet strap and wood culls to pull it back into shape.Another issue that makes no sense is that is was assembled wrong from the factory. There's a plastic washer that's supposed to be between two aluminum parts to provide clearance for a rivet and decrease friction between the aluminum components, but it's obviously installed on the wrong side of the bolt.A few of the staples completely missed their mark, plastic washers are missing, the gas charged struts will fail long before springs would, there are rivets exposed on the ceiling side, I could go on.I do not recommend this task for the average do it yourselfer. If you do intend to do this yourself, spend an hour on youtube watching installation videos. It will save you a ton of grief.

Well made attic ladder!
Follow the instructions and you we be very happy! Very well made! Shipping was fast and no box damage. I have a 10.5 foot garage ceiling. That would be the max height or the feet will not retract. Nice hardware and solid unit! I highly recommend this ladder!.

Weight of Product is 43 lbs., NOT 11.75 lbs.
I am about to receive this item. My wife noticed that the product weight on the Amazon website shows as 11.75 lbs.I emailed the manufacturer, Louisville Ladders, and the product (not shipping) weight is 43 lbs.I gave 4 stars so as to not skew the ratings (most are in this range).
