Q: How much do these boots waterproof? Meaning can I step in a few inches of water and come out dry? Or will water seep in instantly?

I would recommend getting some kind of waterproofing to put on them. I've used Fiebings Snow Proof Weatherproofing on my Double H boots for years and like it. It could darken lighter colored leathers a bit and mess up suede finishes, but should be fine with this boot. I also prefer brushing it in with a boot brush so you really work it into the leather and the stitching. I recommend this for any leather boot or hat, unless its suede.

Good fit. Takes a shine. Best to buy boot socks because the edges of the shank can chafe if the wearer is not tucking trousers into the boot. Boot socks are sold here, got some, chaffing gone.
