I bought this primarily for the hood and filter adapter, because I have several 49mm filters from my earlier film camera(s). The package also includes a 49mm UV filter.The hood and filter adapter fit very nicely. It installed easily. In order to get the factory ring off the lens to expose the threads so that the hood can be mounted on the lens, you must press the factory lens cap firmly against the lens, and turn counterclockwise; this will loosen the ring for removal.In the package, the hood and filter adapter are attached together. Separate the hood from the filter adapter ..it's a bayonet fitting, so grasp the hood firmly, and twist it slightly counter clockwise while also firmly holding the filter adapter. Screw the filter adapter to the lens, and then screw the included filter (pr another one that you prefer) into the adapter. Then reattach the hood. Voila!!It installed quite easily, and I am happy with the black finish against the silver lens of the camera. I don't think it detracts any from the overall appearance of the camera.UPDATE: after more than a year of use, I find that I use this lens hood continuously. With it installed, you cannot use the factory lens cap (not a big deal since you should now have a UV filter on your lens). More importantly, it does block part of the flash, so using this hood with the flash, you'll see a shadow in your image, but I rarely use the built in flash, and I generally remember to remove the hood. As one reviewer said, it also slightly obscures your view through the viewfinder, though I didn't find that to be a real concern.

This is a simple, light weight, inexpensive, and very useful accessory for the Fuji X100S (or any other rangefinder-style camera with a 49mm thread). This is the shade recommended by David Hobby (aka The Strobist) in his review of the Fuji X100S. This adapter has two components. The first is a thin ring that will screw onto the X100S lens or any other lens with a 49mm thread. The first component has a bayonet mount that allow the second component, the shade itself, to connect to it. The bayonet design is ideal because it permits you to quickly snap the shade on or take it off, which is much quicker than if you had to screw it on or off.Like David Hobby, I have put a thin UV filter on my X100S lens, and then I have screwed the first component (the ring) on the front threads of the UV filter. I attach the second component (the shade) on or off, as needed, via the bayonet. This allows the lens to be protected by both the UV filter and shade. It also enables me to omit using the lens cap that comes with the X100S, which looks as though it could easily fall off. I am using the Marumi DHG 49mm UV filter, which is high quality and thin profile. It also has front threads, unlike some of the B+W thin filters.

The only frustration with this item is that you have to remove it, when changing the filter. I switch frequently between a UV and IR filter and have to remove the lens hood to do it. I also need to remove the lens hood, to fit the lens cap. Not a big deal. This is a great product and much lower cost than the Fuji equivalent...

Although the lens hood itself works well, I discovered that after several months of very light use, my Moment filter was popping off the adapter ring unexpectedly and repeatedly! This not only could have damaged my expensive filter but I got so concerned the adapter ring could also damage my x100v, I coughed up the money to buy the considerably higher priced Fujifilm adapter ring. I wanted to give this a good review but gear made for such a high quality camera should not be this poorly constructed. (Shame on Fujifilm for not including the adapter ring with the camera, but that’s a whole other story!) If you already have an adapter ring and just need the lens hood, you’ll probably be happy with this one and it looks nice on the camera too.

This is a nice hood. Good quality. The price is right too. Note: if you are using an X100t (or S or original) the hood will cut off part of the viewfinder image. That is quite normal for all you rangefinder shooters. But, if you are use to a DSLR, it will be noticeable. Of course, you can always switch to EVF mode if you wish.I did not use the filter. Can't speak to that.Bottom line: I would buy this again. Nice product!

Excellent product at a ridiculous price! No need to search further. Very sturdy (better than I expected) and a perfect fit. Seeing the lens hood when viewing through the viewfinder is visible but there's no reason why it should affect your vision or framing. Good job EzFoto!

This hood is perfect for my X100s - it fits well, can hold a 49mm filter, controls flare and protects the lens. The black looks great with both silver or black bodies. Highly recommended, specially at this price.

i purchased this Lens Hood and adaptor for my new Fuji X100s camera for a price that I could not pass up. It works and fits the camera well. It has very fine threads that there is no problem to screw on to the lens. A very good purchase. I believe I will receive many years of use from this lens hood. It is exactly as advertised. Maybe better.
