Cloak and Dagger/The Wizard Double Feature

Cloak & Dagger...
I saw Cloak & Dagger when I was a kid, and I've ALWAYS wanted to see it again. I'd forgotten lots of it because it'd been so very long, but I never forgot about this movie, and just remembered really liking it. I wanted my 10 year old son to see it, and I hoped it was as good as I remembered! It was even BETTER! This movie is amazingly good. I loved it all over again, and my son is a new fan. He's totally in to today's modern movies (and so am I) but this is a great story, and done quite well. It is dated, and it does have it's "cheesy" moments. All in all, it's great though. In regard to WIZARD - I has seen parts of this movie, but had forgotten about it. I went ahead and bought this DVD instead of the stand alone Cloak & Dagger hoping that Wizard was good too. It was. My son LOVED it... and it's a pretty good story too! It's not as good as C&D, but it's not bad at all. I was concerned that ordering the DVD with the 2 movies would reduce quality, and both films would be on one disk - but they are not. It comes with 2 separate disks, and the quality of the DVD's is fine. There aren't any extras, not even the theatrical trailers (bummer)... but the DVD's played great, and I have no complaints!

Two great classics.
From the 80's these have to be some of the best movies done for kids. Even adults can enjoy these. These do not even need a long review. You should know these movies and if you don't, BUY them and enjoy these classics. They do not make good movies like this any more. Don't listen to all the other reviews that have no clue what a real movie is. Cloak and Dagger is pure genius. Wizard of course is beyond amazing.

More fun than remembered
some violence and dead body of computer friend, little boy and his imaginary friend working out the mystery. Watched only Cloak and Dagger so far.

Both films contain content not to be mindlessly consumed...
I watched The Wizard as a kid, so it has nostalgic value for me. Of course the movie is extremely cheesy and a bit dated. One of my favorite unrealistic scenes are the two business men playing an arcade game that they are so into they don't stop to evaluate the absurdity of the bet they make with a 9-year-old boy that they can score higher (already in an age when points in games were becoming obsolete).I read reviews before buying this that several people thought Cloak & Dagger was good ol' fashioned family fun, while The Wizard was crass and contained too many swear words and sexual references. I think it's a matter of what you're more sensitive to. Cloak & Dagger opens up in the first five minutes with men being stabbed and killed, then has several more murders and deaths, not to mention the attempted murder of the protagonist. I would say both films have mature content in them that children shouldn't just consume mindlessly. Then again, virtually every film or TV show contains things that should be talked about with a family no matter the age it was intended for. But you didn't come here for my opinion on visual media. I think I also read reviews that suggested Cloak & Dagger was heartwarming because of the theme of family reconciliation between the boy and his father. I would argue that The Wizard is ALSO about just that (admittedly, possibly overshadowed by the monolithic Nintendo commercial the film is). That being said, Cloak & Dagger was a fun early 80s film I had never heard of prior to this DVD release. While it centers around a video game, the film is more about... well, cloak and dagger type stuff. If you're a fan of video game themed movies, then I suggest both of these films.

VERY HAPPY
2 awesome movies. The Wizard is an amazing film about 2 brothers and a runaway girl that make their way to National Video Game Championships in Los Angeles, while trying to avoid Putnam along the way. CLoak and Dagger is a must watch with your father... by the end of the movie you will both understand each other a litle better I think :)

Yay a childhood fave!
I LOVED LOVED LOVED Cloak and Dagger as a kid. It's pretty retro with the cartridge video games, but I think it's still a great kids story.

The perfect age for both of these 1980s movies
I was born in 1976. The perfect age for both of these 1980s movies. And they both hold up just as well to me to this day. Really fun movies to watch
