UTEK UT-5204 4port RS485 Guide Rail Type Intelligent Hub(4-Port RS-485 Hub, Rail-Mounted,Binding Post, PhotoElectric Isolation)

Been designing, maintaining and repairing RS485 equipment since 1986. Not my first big one. Tried this unit to break out a Modbus network that electricians wired wrong in a star configuration. Bought this unit and another $10 485, 2CH repeater. Tried this unit first, 485 trunk in, two spur ckts out. TX LED stayed on constant. RX LED never flickered. Reversed polarity of 485 pair in and out for the heck of it. Same LED activity. No comms on any port. Might just have been my luck to receive a defective unit. Used the $10 unit just because I bought it to play with and brought it to the job just in case. System is up and working like a charm! May try another of these units at a later date... For now, not pleased.
