Q: Is this for inkjet printers?

Yes it works great in an inkjet printer.

Q: I'm wondering if I could use this to make decals for the knobs of my sons baseball bats?

This material is pretty thick, as long as it doesn't have to curve too much it should work. I used this on a corn hole game board, then coated it with clear acrylic. You might also consider Inkpress CF851120 Clear Film. Its quite a bit thinner, but its not adhesive. I used spray adhesive, then also coated it with clear acrylic to protect.

Q: how durable is this material? how does it compare to non-printable outdoor vinyl? and is this thicker than what a printer could normally handle?

It's been on our truck for about 5 months without any issues. Do used quality ink. I have an old Canon printer and it did the print just fine
