Kensington NanoSaver Keyed Laptop Lock for Select HP and Lenovo Laptops (K64444WW), Black

Very sturdy and long enough to wrap around a desk. Fits a Lenovo T430 laptop.

Annoying that there's multiple sizes, and Lenovo doesn't specify which size thingy fits the lock port in their tech specs. I have another size that fits a monitor and older laptops. This one fits my new-ish Thinkpad.

I do a LOT of traveling and don't leave my laptop unattended as a general rule. But this is nice to have to discourage someone from taking my computer. It'll hopefully make a thief look to the next computer.

When I bought my new laptop, I figured I would be able to re-use the Kensington lock from the old one. No such luck because the old lock was too large to fit into the new laptop's security slot. I don't know why they are different sizes. One theory is that Kensington wants to sell new locks. Another is that the new laptop is more compact, so the security slots are smaller to save space. Either way, this new lock works perfectly.

The product was reasonably priced and of high quality. Worked as advertised. Would buy again if needed.

Product was third lock I tried (I did not realize there are three types of Kensingtons for laptop - who knew?). Apparently, if newer laptop and 'thin' then look for Nano in name. A nano lock is supposed to be backward compatible to a micro Kensington, but micro is not compatible with nano. Setup was easy and I do like the number wheels rather than worrying about keeping up with a key.

Overall, I'm a fan of Kensington products, but I find this one cumbersome to use. Conceptually, the pivot and rotate cable head should be a great idea, but in practice it just gets in the way. The only way I can engage the lock is to move my laptop until the side with the nano slot overhangs the desk and then remove the closest cable to provide more room. If you're lacking space around your device's lock, good luck. Also, the numerical wheels are very narrow, to the point it is extremely difficult to change one number without changing adjoining numbers. I tried using a stylus, but that didn't work. I'm still looking for an adequate solution.

Estuve investigando si este candado funcionaba para las nuevas versiones delgadas de HP, de hecho; investigue en la página del proveedor y sin problema, en realidad le queda muy bien y no daña la entrada que es algo que me preocupaba. Como siempre los candados de este proveedor son muy buenos.

HP (and other laptop manufacturers) are never clear about the kensington lock model to be used on each laptop model. This specific site mention "Kensington Nano Saver Keyed Laptop Lock for Select HP Elitebooks", and I do have a HP 2017 elitebook model 840 G3. I ordered this lock and it didn't fit well, Once locked I could easily and softly pull the lock out. This is not the seller's fault, it is the laptop manufacturer's fault. The specs on laptop user guide and their website only say (Kensington lock). Yes, but what model ? there are several types, standard/regular, micro, nano, wedge slot, etc, so we would need more details. I previously tried the kensington standard/regular T-shape lock, and it didn't fit either. My lock slot is 7mm wide. I don't know what to do now.
