Yes, it is better.
I have no problem eating rice grown in the US, but this is better. The appearance is different, this is more translucent looking than I'm used to. The texture is different, it's plenty sticky but less gummy. I find the flavor is much better too. I'm not a rice snob, and I find most japonica rice great. This stuff is better than even the high end japonica. To me it's worth the price difference.

Best Rice Ever!!!
This is the best rice I've ever eaten. It's nice and sticky, slightly sweet, and a perfect chew. While you can wash i prefer not to. My Zojirushi cooks it just fine. I haven't seen any bugs or other contaminates. Smells great. Definitely worth the money.

Spoiled, dirty, smells terrible. Bad batch.
I have bought this fantastic rice for years. The last batch I received of two packages was spoiled with something. Tasted terrible, and stank. Amazon does not even allow me a return because it’s a perishable item.

Delicious.
Uniform and clear-looking grains. Just looking at this stuff you can tell it's high quality. I've had premium Niigata rice sent to me from a friend in Japan, and this stuff was just as tasty. Far better than any of the California grown short-grain rice I've tried. Would highly recommend for all of your sticky rice needs.

Worth the money.
The food in the US is terrible. This rice is amazing. I can eat like 2 cups a day and lose weight. Love it. I make rice every day and this rice is always delicoous and sticky in my rice cooker.

Very tasty, highly polished, great texture
Fantastic rice. Great chew to it, very tasty, perfect complement for stir fry bowl or to use for sushi. Needs lots of rinsing (I do about 10 rinses). Highly recommended!

Very nice
Cooked in a Zojirushi NS-ZAC18, on “harder” mode, using the sushi rice level of water. Grains are large-ish for koshihikari, translucent and fairly clear before the rinse and pearly white after cooking. Virtually zero broken grains. Aroma, fairly strong with a nice raw oat quality. Flavor, a bit mild. Texture, very good but kind of mushy when the rice is too hot. Once cooled a bit, takes on a nice al dente bite. Good grain separation (I do not soak and consider too much stickiness to be a defect). Handles sauces well after cooling and does not get mushy. Bit on the pricey side or I would give it five stars. All in all a top choice among the various rice brands I’ve ordered from Amazon.

Great rice actually grown in Japan
Have you ever noticed your supermarket purchased rice having any moth or insect? They never do since pesticide residues in them. This rice has not pesticide residues may grow moth or insect in it. That makes me feel safe to eat.
