Berkley Big Game Casting Fishing Rod

I appreciate a company that crafts goods that are made for a single purpose......FISHING!!!!!😃 Berkley has been a stand-out name in the vocabulary of anglers for years. I started my Berkley collection with their Cherrywood rod and was extremely pleased with the craftsmanship and attention to detail. Over the years, I have added more Berkley rods and equipment to my collection of gear. This outstanding 7-foot "Big Game" rod immediately appealed to me. While primarily crafted for surf-casting and angling for monster catfish, I found this rod had a strong backbone for strengthwhile also sporting a rather sensitive end on the rod. I have had my fill of landing some 7 to 8-pound catfish without the rod hardly bending. One day, I was out to catch some catfish, but to my surprise, I could feel and see the end of my seven-foot Berkley rod twitching about. I set my hook and began reeling in my catch. At the end of my line was an impressive trout thrashing about!!! NICE!!!!😄 I didn't think a rod of these dimensions and strength could transmit a smaller fish with this amount of sensitivity!!! I changed out my rig and set the rod for another trout or bass. Within 15 minutes, I had another trout on the line!!! This is a big rod coming in at 7 feet in length. It is set for moderate fast action, and the amount of tensile strength in this fiberglass rod is made to land the "big ones"!!! It certainly appears this rod is made for a combination of durability and sensitivity, even for smaller game. I was delighted!!! 😁 Some folks look at me strangely at a pond or lake and think I am using the wrong rod for what the pond can yield. Their opinions are quickly changed when I'm pulling bass, pike, or trout out of the water with regularity!!! Before I used this rod, I wouldn't have thought it was sensitive enough to "feel" a nibble on my line, but now I'm convinced I can use this rod for both large game fish and smaller prey fish at a lake or pond with great success!!! The rod weighs less than 12 pounds, and coupled with a Megatron 3000 open-cast reel with 15-pound test braided line, I can catch whatever I rig my line for. Sounds funny, but it is the absolute truth!!! The rod is made in two pieces, so transportation is easy and can even fit in the back of my SUV in case I see a body of water and have some time to kill. The Titanium Oxide guides with titanium oxide inserts give this Berkley rod strength and aid in casting line with ease. The EVA handles make the rod comfortable to use and provide a slip-proof surface to work the rod. The lure rating on this rod is between 1 and 4 ounces for surf casting or deep sea trolling, but works perfectly with 1/2 once sinkers in fresh water while I'm deeply concentrating on my next bass or trout!! The all white rod with black and red supports for the guides makes this an attractive rod no matter where you prefer to fish. I love using this super-utility fishing rod from Berkley. It gives me the functionality and flexibility to go after a variety of fish!!! 🚩I rate this outstanding rod a solid 10 out of 10 because the rod is manufactured with great care and craftsmanship, it is a tough rod for large fish and it also seems to be capable of being used for smaller game, the weight of this rod is extremely light compared to its size, the EVA grips are a pleasure to use, and the action of this rod is moderate fast action for both large and small fish!!! I recommend trying this rod to see if you find it to be as utilitarian as I have. For $29.97 (at the time of this review), this is a lot of rod for a small amount of money. Purchase this rod and see if you experience the same utility I did while using this product from Berkley. A small but wise investment won't cost you much, and may pay off in copious amounts of fish!!!!😊

I use these rods on a weekly basis. I put spider wire on them and they cast and reel with no problems. I caught a 15lb catfish and it barely bent the pole. Very sturdy & reliable. I bought 2 of these and may need 2 more.

Great rod for casting 2-3 ounce weights on the surf or pier.Great rod action that loads up for a good cast and yet has the sensitivity and strength to land a good fish on the pier or beach.

This is an excellent product for the price and just what I was looking for ! Inspect it carefully when you first get it, I did have an issue with the quality of the eyes on the rod. Some of them were not smooth and would have been abrasive to the fishing line. But Amazon took care of it for me.

Very sturdy, little long at the bottom end but great for saltwater fishing

Im not sure for the money that you could find a better 7ft caster. The rod guides are all double footed and the finish is very nice. Its a little big in diameter as you come down to the reel seat, but I wanted a 7ft that would throw up to 4oz with no issue. Its a medium heavy and I think they got it right with this one. Havent fished it yet but looking forward to it.Look:A++++Functionality:A++++
