I purchased this as a second copy for my voice studio. It is an excellent beginner book for young singers.

I teach high school students, and I love these folk songs for beginner students. They are very easy to accompany while the student is singing, and the students enjoy singing the songs because they are pleasant songs.

Nice anthology. Good fold song selections. Approachable for less experienced students. Beautiful piano accompaniments that aren’t too difficult. Tessituras are just right for medium-low voice. I would recommend!

I really enjoy this book! I am using it for music class, and it is super helpful. They are great songs for dropping your jaw and breathing exercises!

Love it but wish I could get the sccompament cd

This is one of the best beginner vocal repertoire collections that I have found. Most other collections that I own have many songs that I rarely or never use, leaving a selected few songs that are of any value to me. I have used and love each song in this book.

While I can still use this book for teaching, I am disappointed that it came with water damage. I understand things happen and at least it’s in the upper corner and doesn’t really effect the overall image of the music. The pages were a little stuck together but nothing a little turning of the pages didn’t fix. 3 stars for the damage, but it’s a great book for teaching beginner voice students.

This is a wonderful book of songs with lovely tunes and very clever arrangements - hats off to Jay Althouse for another splendid compilation
