They still work just fine, why not use them? Many simple tasks don't require the latest state of the art equipment. Plug and play, works perfectly. Going to buy a couple more of these.

This Converter is fantastic. I lost my HDMI function on my LED TV, due to a lightening strike at my Cold Water Line on my Lawn last Summer. The TV VGA still functioned. So I used this in conjunction with: [5 x 1 HDMI Switch [Ultra HD 4K x 2K], FosPower 5 Ports HDMI Audio Extractor Switch Converter with Optical & L/R Audio Output - 3D 1080p | ARC - Includes IR Remote & Power Adapter]. The L&R Audio, I fed to the Surround Sound Audio [IN]. The Surround sound unit also lost its' HDMI. A McGUYVER fix is true, and it did work. I lost some Resolution due to the limitations of VGA but that's all the TV had left. DVI-I or DVI-D would have been better. "C'est La Vie"! PS: Make sure that you protect your home electronics with a [Power Surge Protector], my Home Office Computer Power supply got Zapped also. I haven't even dug into that yet. All the equipment that was unplugged or main switch off did not get affected. A word to the wise should suffice. Good Luck. [I build Computers as a Hobby]

I was hoping I could use this cable to connect my older Mac Pro Tower to my HDMI new Samsung flatscreen TV. I tried all 3 inputs on the Samsung TV and I tried every connection configuration I could think of and it did not work. I also tried using this cable to connect my Mac Tower to my brand new ViewSonic Computer monitor without success. The ViewSonic Computer monitor arrived yesterday (brand new). I connected the cable to the HDMI input and got no signal at all. It was exactly the same as my Samsung Flatscreen TV. Nothing, no signal. I can only conclude that the cable I received is defective and doesn't work. I tried it with two different monitors and end even with *two* different computers and had no success. I purchased this cable because of all the good reviews I read. This should have been a no brainer. But the product I received did not work. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this product at all.

Cable was ok but design was not great. The RGA connection was so long that I could not connect it to the RGA on the back of my monitor. The connection on my monitor was recessed and the connection on the cable was too long to fit into the space. Additionally the specs on the sight did not reflect the size of they connection so I had no way to know it would not fit.
