Connected: The 12 Ways of Wellbeing for a Holistically Healthy Life

Connected Review
This is an amazing book, written by a wonderful woman, Gemma Margerison. Gemma came up with this fabulous concept of connecting a range of practitioners, offering a wide variety of approaches, with the people who are looking for support, in order for these people to be able to see what's available, get a feel for how it works and know how to contact the practitioner(s) that offer the service they feel is a best fit for them.Gemma conducted over 40 interviews in the creation of this book and I was deeply honoured to be one of them! She then divided them into 4 spheres of connection which were further divided into ways of wellbeing, giving the 12 ways of creating a holistically healthy life, as mentioned in the title. Each section is so inspiring that even just reading the book feels uplifting, supportive and eye opening. I highly recommend it for anyone who is: - looking for support - interested in wellbeing - seeking to bring greater all round, holistic balance and wellbeing to their life - keen to develop a greater understanding of what true wellbeing means for them as an individual.

A delightful self-help smorgasbord.
I've never been much of a reader. Other than reading for study, I've probably only actually finished 2 books in the last 10 years...but this one I couldn't leave alone!I ordered Connected: The 12 Ways of Wellbeing for a Holistically Healthy Life having had my interest piqued when I saw Gemma pick up the 2022 Wellbeing Warrior Award and the Fresh Perpective's "Freshies Awards". I couldn't wait to get started on it and took it away on holiday with me as a holiday read.I always have a hard time getting on board with self-help books. "Do this/don't do that/you need to...etc". Always prescriptive, and often one-size-fits-all & difficult to relate to. But, this little gem of a book from Gemma is quite unlike any of the others I've tried reading but fallen out with less than half way through!Reading Connected, it felt as though Gemma was walking me through the greatest networking event I've never been to. She introduces you to an eclectic collection of practitioners who she clearly has a great deal of respect for and skilfully summarises the benefits of their methods and what they strive for. Not only have a come out of the other side of this book feeling more connected to my own wellbeing, I have been equipped with several new connections in my network through which to explore further! There is a certain vulnerability in Gemma's writing - particularly when reflecting on each chapter -and that went a long way to helping me feel I was on a journey of discovery with her; rather than all too familiar feeling of being patronised by the author who is somehow superior that I often get with this type of book.I can thoroughly recommend for anyone with even a passing interest in improving their own wellbeing or that of those around them. It's a fantastic starting point to self-reflection and helping you to "take stock".

I return to this again and again.
This is a wonderful book and comes with a strong recommendation to read. Well written, great editorial control, and humble yet significant. I benefited dearly from understanding more about the 'subtle and softer' sets of skills that we all should be aware of; only then can we truly grasp a well-rounded and holistic sense of wellbeing. If I could give this more than five starts I would, a brilliant read. Many thanks to the author.
