How Can I clean the stand?

There are a little grommets at the bottom silver and color that you can unscrew and then clean with a damp sponge

Without the knives: about 8 1/2 in With knives: about 13 1/2 in

Does the black come off when you sharpen the knives?

I just sharpen two knives from this set. yes, the black coating does come off if it contacted whetstone. Also, I found these knives are not the easiest to be sharpen.
