The Invaders clash with Lovecraftian Monstrosities
LOVE the Marvel/Dynamite stories involving the Invaders and other Golden Age Marvel heroes. Just love how they handle these concepts. And this story doesn't disappoint. The surviving Invaders come back together to re-investigate a very dark chapter in their Wartime history, where they came up against a threat so dire... that it required them to make a very... regrettable/harrowing decision on how to stop it. Unfortunately, a VERY similar situation is again, in modern times, rearing it's ugly head... forcing the group to face this sour note once more. At first it seems as though it's their old foe Arnim Zola up to his usual diabolical tricks (as they seemingly were back then)... but THEN the true source of the problem reveals itself... and the stakes get all the more higher as a result. So this is a very neat story, awesome handling of these classic characters, and it touches upon various subjects and genres by the time it reaches it's conclusion. I highly recommend it.

Good story reconnecting the Invaders
This story was nothing memorable, but it was good to see the Invaders take on their biggest failures for World War II. Art was good as well, my main thing was the villain at the end. I'm my opinion it was WAY to big for that monster to come out, and is more suited for a Dr. Strange or Avengers comic. Still good story and worth the read.

A fun mini Series
Despite some minor damage on the front cover of this tpb copy of 2010 Invaders Now! mini series, This Mini series Invaders Now! is action-packed and fun to read, thou I was not crazy of the art-work by Cario Reis and story did blow my mind ether, that all said I enjoy this comic and would recommend it !

Highly entertaining.
This latest version of the Invaders is the best yet. Much better than their Bronze Age appearances. I'm very pleased to see the original Vision in the books, as I've never come across him in my nearly 50 years of comic book reading. I hope we get another mini-series as a sequel. Highly recommended to all Marvel fans. Not necessary but the previous volumes of the series, "The Torch" and "Invaders/Avengers" make this one even better. This volume is the best yet.

Invaders Fans will like this.
Invaders Fans will like this. It is a good story and the art is dynamic. The Invaders are coming back this year and it would be nice to see some top tier talent on the book. Good story.

Not Good
I was in a hurry and bought this thinking it was all Alex Ross interior art. My bad. It's pretty terrible. To be fair, it is terrible in a distinctly Silver Age sort of way that may appeal to some. It's one of the few trades I have picked up in the last ten years that I have lost or sold through a complete lack of care.

Some good ideas here that never really panned out
This reads as a Invaders story written by a guy who never really 'got' the Invaders. Some good ideas here that never really panned out.

Good, simple fun for those new to The Invaders
Unlike most who might purchase this fringe comic, I knew very little about The Invaders other than the basics like the normal roster and that they operated during World War II. But the only reason i needed to buy this was that both Union Jack(Joseph Chapman) and Spitfire were in it, as i am a huge fan of Marvel's British super heroes. What I recieved was a pleasant surprise that i thoroughly enjoyed reading, and while it won't exactly blow you away, it is a pretty fun story. The story is a standalone one that takes places over 5 issues. It follows the original Invaders of World War Two being brought back to life in the modern day to combat a threat that only they can fight. The Golden Age Vision, who looks a bit like DC's Martian Manhunter and feels really out of place, gathers together Bucky Barnes, who has taken on the mantle of Captain America, Toro and the Original Human Torch who are both pretty much the same person as far as i could tell, Namor The Sub Mariner, British superhero Spitfire and Steve Rogers(in his Winter Soldier uniform but apparently not captain america in this iteration). He also recruits the modern day Union Jack, Joseph Chapman, as he cannot bring the World War II iteration Brian Falsworth back from the dead, to join the team. Chapman provides a very helpful perspective as someone new to the Invaders and is unaware of what they went through back in the war, so in some ways Chapman is like new readers to the series and provides their eye into the events. What the story eventually revolves around is the fallout of The Invaders darkest hour during the war, where they were forced to do something they would never have done if they had a choice. I won't go into specifics, but it involves a deadly viral weapon unleashed by Arnim Zola and an entire village paying the consequences. This is fully covered in a flashback in issue 2. The same atrocity that plagued them in the war has returned in the modern day, and The Invaders are the only ones who can stop it. They return to the site of the original fight and find themselves having to face the past full circle while asking questions about the morality of their decision and whether they can do it again. I can't explain much more without going into spoilers, but it is a highly entertaining series of fights and is really engaging towards the end. Plus, it involves none other than SHUMA GORATH himself, which was a great highlight. As the story is only 5 issues, it is actually quite short but manages to achieve everything it wants to in that time, but character development does suffer as a result, with both Toro and Human Torch in particular being shunted to the sidelines and becoming muscle. But it is not too major and overall the story is highly entertaining and a very interesting read.I'm not usually one to criticize a comics artwork but i do feel that here it is somewhat subpar and would have benefited from some extra detail and colouring, but it isn't too noticeable, at least for me. The story flows well and is engaging, the characters are handled well and Joseph Chapman stars as the teams newest member with some memorable scenes. My only fault would be that Spitfire is a bit too emotional and...well, girly in this. After her turn in Captain Britain and MI13 it seems somewhat out of character. The Golden Age Vision is a bit strange and like i mentioned earlier feels out of place against these soldiers and heroes, but i would just chalk that up to not being used to him. Some reviewers seem to criticize The Invaders as feeling out of character or some such, but that obviously didn't affect me being a newbie, and for other people new to The Invaders, i would reccomend Invaders Now as a fun, exciting romp that's well worth the read.

For completists only...for now!
After the excellent four Invaders Classic Volume 1 TPB: v. 1 (Graphic Novel Pb)Invaders Classic Volume 2 TPBInvaders Classic Volume 3 TPBInvaders Classic Volume 4 TPB (Graphic Novel Pb) Invaders Classics collections and the spectacular if overlong Avengers vs Invaders Avengers Invaders and it's flawed but interesting follow up 'the Torch' The Torch TPB the prospect of the Invaders all back together in modern Marvel times was a great draw and this should have been a powerful celebration of that team. This could have catapulted the group into a new ongoing series for a new generation. Sadly, it's none of that - it's a bit flat, a bit dull, a bit 'old fashioned' and a bit soulless...and the art is awful! It's not all bad however, contrary to some other reviews I thought there was a bit of an attempt at character development, but that might just be that I'd read warnings that there wasn't any! The idea of Bucky and Toro both being adults now is completly lost though, both act and are often drawn, as if they're still juveniles - just juveniles-out-of-time. The retconned 'new' member - the 'golden age Vision' doesn't really add anything here and there is no mention whatsoever to Spitfire being a vampire these days (that is still her status isn't it?). If you're an Invaders fan then you will buy this and you will be a tad disappointed - but live in hope that someone'll ressurect the idea and do this properly...soon?*** Update *** missing a quality Invaders product? - Go get Captain America: PatriotInvaders Classic Volume 1 TPB: v. 1 (Graphic Novel Pb)Invaders Classic Volume 2 TPBInvaders Classic Volume 3 TPBInvaders Classic Volume 4 TPB (Graphic Novel Pb)Avengers InvadersThe Torch TPBCaptain America: Patriot
