Miracle product!!!
This product is a miracle. I have been concerned for years about my thinning hair. I didn't want mine to get has bad as my mother's, hers got so bad you could see the shape of her head through her hair from any angle. Rogaine never worked for her, so I was sure it wouldn't work for me. I found this product and decided to give a try. I am so happy I did. My hair started growing out again right away. I've even had added length too. The best part, I didn't realize that I had a receding hairline too until my hairline started growing back in. The only downside is the smell and the greasy felling. Others have said things about these negatives too. As far as the smell, it's not that bad and you get used to it quickly. For the greasy feeling, what I do is to apply it right before bed, and then take a shower and wash it out in the morning. So, there are a few negatives but they are well worth it to get my hair back. If you have baldness/thinning this product is definitely worth a try. * The first photo is before use, the second is 24hr later, the third is today (color is different from hair dye not this product)

A MUST-HAVE for my thick, coarse hair!
I think it's important to know a person's hair type before considering the relevancy of his/her review, so let me note that I am 3-1/2 months into my transition from relaxed to natural hair. I have combination hair -- mostly type 4B, with small areas that are borderline 4C. It is very thick, very wavy, and coarse. That being said, this item has definitely become a staple in my hair care arsenal! This hair food has a grease-like appearance but is not to be confused with traditional greases -- mainly because it contains none of the bad stuff, like petrolatum. Don't be dismayed by the tiny size of this not-so-cheap product, like I was when I received my first container. These four ounces go a long way, even with regular use. Once applied to the scalp and massaged in, it melts beautifully; so don't overdo it. Buyer beware! This is a heavy product; so if you don't have thick, coarse hair, you might want to try the coconut version of this hair food. (That one is supposed to be lighter.) For me, however, this is just what the doctor ordered for my beautiful kinks! :D When my hair is at its worst -- extra dry and/or super knotty -- I reach for this little container. It quickly restores my moisture so I can detangle my tresses and keep it moving. I had noticeable breakage in my "almost 4C" areas, and I think this hair food may be helping them grow. (I cannot swear to this, though, because I also take supplements for this purpose.) I do know that it has definitely helped stop the breakage, and that is good enough for me. I let myself run out of this hair food ONE time ... never again! I pray this is helpful for someone. Blessings!

It's a thick paste that's good for your hair and scalp
I have been using Tropic Isle Living's Jamaican Black Castor oil for more than a year and a half. They sell many other hair products, so I decided to order this product to try it out. This hair food goes a very good job moisturising my hair, scalp, and the ends of my hair. I use this productir 2-3 times a week to prevent breakage and split ends to my hair. The product also doesn't have a scent to it, which is good for those that are sensitive to many fragrances. The castor oil smell is faint, not very strong. My only criticisim is this only comes in a 4 ounze jar. I wish they sell it in a large jar, and I wish the price is lower. But the product works very well for my hair though.

Excellent Product!
Thanks to the moisturizing properties of this product I am able to comb my hair while it is totally dry. This product allows me to comb and braid my hair and the comb practically "glides" right through my hair. It moisturizes the hair very nicely. Although it it a little pricey it is worth every dime. It thickens the hair and makes it grow. It makes your hair feel and look healthy. I am ordering another jar. I use it in conjunction with black castor oil and between the two products my hair is completely moisturized. This product is superb. Make sure your rub the product in your hands to soften first as it appears to be gritty.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil Hair Food
I do not feel the product was worth the price, $14 with shipping. I brought the product thinking it would keep my hair moisturized while wearing my wigs during the course of the day. By the time class ends, mid-afternoon, my hair is super dry. The wig cap and the Fall months may have something to do with it, but I expected more moisture. When wearing my natural hair, I applied the product every other day to retain moisture. Overall, the product is okay, results are similar to products I already have. The smell did not bother me at all. It was worth the try, but I am still looking for something better.

My Hair Loves This Stuff
Let me tell you all of the things I don't like about this product: 1. The smell - ugh, it smells terrible (to me) 2. It's an extremely sticky and gritty paste 3. You have to rub it between your hands to warm it up enough to put it in your hair 4. It's so thick you have to really rub it in to work it into your hair However, regardless of these things, I will continue to use this product because MY HAIR LOVES IT! I work this into my hair at night until my whole head is a greasy, slimy, stinky mess and then I wrap it up into a bun and sleep on it overnight. In the morning, I have to shampoo it several times to get the product out of my hair but once I do, my hair is so much smoother, shinier, and healthy looking. I do this about once a week as a restoring mask. I found this product when looking for an alternative for a coconut oil mask because coconut oil does nothing for my hair. This product does everything for it! I've even started rubbing a (tiny) amount into the ends to smooth and prevent frizz. I have fine, highlighted straight blonde hair. I can't attest to the growth properties of castor oil because I haven't been using it long enough to notice, but I still think it's a great product. If my hair grows faster also then that's just another bonus.
