Very comfortable and good for hiking on rough surfaces
Hiking to waterfalls, great traction and was more balanced on rocky trails.

Great shoe but only if your forefoot is really narrow.
They must have redesigned these recently. I tried some a couple years ago and they were roomy in the toe box but narrow/secure in the heel. Now they fit very narrow in the toe box even though I actually have fairly narrow feet(for reference Salomons tend to fit quite well in std width). Otherwise the design is exactly what I'm looking for- quick dry upper, cushioned but not excessively so and zero drop with a nice grippy sole. Tried my true size and 1/2 size up. The larger was correct in length but squeezed my forefoot uncomfortably. I had to return.

Most comfortable shoe I've owned
Love, love, love the wide toe bed. I was afraid there wasn't enough arch support but after walking around DC most of the day, they were great.

Design change
I believe they may have changed the design of these shoes in the last couple of years. I ordered these directly from Astral in 2021 and LOVED them. I’m an avid hiker, so this shoe was perfect for all types of terrain and for any water activity. However, I ordered these about a month ago (same size) and decided to try them out in a flat hike. I had blisters on my heels within two miles and part of my left foot became numb. They did look a little different than my last pair, but the new design absolutely did not fit well for me. Unfortunately, these issues weren’t discovered until I tried them out doing what they were meant to do (outdoor shoes meant for hiking). I decided to return them and unfortunately didn’t read too much into the return policy. Because I sent them back with some grass on the bottom and missing one tag that said “astral” which was taken off (I made sure to save everything else including the paper you put inside the shoe to hold shape), I was partially refunded due to a $62 restocking fee. Personally, if I were to order Astrals again I would go directly through Astrals site. Honestly just ordered from this site because I thought I would get them faster, but I think it would have been worth it to wait a little longer since astral accepts returns and only charges $10.
