Platinum Health Gateway Premium Sliding Bath Transfer Bench with Swivel Seat-Padded (Blue)

My father recently had a severe stroke resulting in complete paralysis of his right arm and leg. His home has bathtub/shower units so we could not get him in and out of the bath over the edge of the tub without at least two people holding him up and risking a fall which was embarrassing and dangerous for him. We looked into replacing one shower/bath with a walk in tub or shower stall but that would have cost thousands of dollars so I ordered this product hoping it would make bath time easier. Assembly is straightforward and simple and the assembled unit is lightweight and easy to move and position in the tub. The leg height is adjustable to get the right height for the edge of the tub and the rubber feet are adjustable to fit the slope of the bottom edge of the bathtub perfectly to keep it stable and prevent slipping. The ability to swivel the seat in any direction and lock it onto position is especially helpful as Dad can sit down on the seat facing out from his walker to get undressed with help from his wife and then swivel the seat and lift his bad leg over the edge of the tub before sliding the seat into the shower space. The lap belt and grab bar offer an extra sense of security and stability for those with mobility issues. He can now get into the shower with only his wife helping him which is much more dignified for him and safer for both of them as she has a bad back that prevents her from being able to safely lift and support him alone. Dad was thrilled to be able to have a real shower after a few weeks of sponge baths that never really left him feeling completely clean from head to toe and my stepmother is relieved that she can now help him with his bath without assistance. We are all very happy with this product.

This is a game changer! Very easy to assemble and use & very sturdy. Having the overall stabilty and a back on this chair enables me to shower more comfortably not worrying about the chair shifting or tipping over. Very comfortable and makes it easy to lift my legs over the tub one at a time and get postioned comfortably. The seat and back are never cold to the touch, not sure how, but that's a plus. I highly recommend this to anyone needing assistance getting in and out of a tub, or for anyone needing to sit while showering and wants to exit the shower flooring safely.

This bench was recommended to me by the occupational therapist on the inpatient rehab unit after my husband had a very long hospital stay. Even with severe muscle wasting he's been able to get in and out of the shower on his own with this. The bench is sturdy, and the controls for pivoting/sliding are pretty straightforward once he got used to them. The foam seat is firm but has a little give so comfortable. We have it in a tight space (next to a toilet) and it just fits to where he can comfortably sit facing the water spigot in the tub (he's 6'0"). (If you have a small space, I suggest measuring before you buy.) We don't use the straps, wish we could take them off but I think they're sewed on. I can't remember if the instructions mentioned this, but I set it up in the tub before he came home, and the legs that sit outside the shower needed to be longer than the legs that sit inside for the bench to be level. I recommend getting this adjusted beforehand, along with the position of the rubbery foot caps, which are angled and hard to change once you've put them on. I also bought a special shower curtain that has splits that go around the bench. It was pretty expensive and had some bad reviews, but I'm really glad I went for it anyway. It works perfectly with this bench and saves me a ton of cleanup (we had a shower aid who didn't want to use it and the bathroom looked like a water park afterward). So glad somebody makes this kind of thing.

The seat slide and rotation works smoothly. Its perfect for my situation. I can easily get into the bathtub. With MS, I can't lift legs to step over, well anything. This chair is easy to use. My family worries a little less about me being alone in the bathroom to shower; which is a huge relief for me. two enhancements would be nice: First, I can't get the seatbelt off the chair. It is has velcro attachment under chair, but strap fabric plus velcro doesn't is too thick to pull off. second, I wish the bench went one click lower.

This is such a game changer coming from rehab. From being wheelchair-reliant to now being able to use a walker, this bathtub contraption has been a huge step towards being self-reliant and taking care of myself. It is safe and comfortable enough given that I have a number of fractures and lesions on my back. My husband was able to assemble it easily and without a problem.

This bench is for my mother who cannot use it without assistance. It works great, is very sturdy and comfortable. I love the swiveling seat which makes transferring onto the bench so much easier than trying to position her, since moving her is very difficult. The sliding seat is a must, again for someone who would have great difficulty moving over on her own accord. She has caregivers, including myself and everyone thinks it's the greatest. I would absolutely recommend this bench and the customer support is great. My questions were answered over the internet within a few hours over the weekend. It was easy to assemble and stores in the tub when not in use. We had shower doors on the tub, but removed the doors and put up a cheap plastic shower curtain, trimming it so it's not so bulky. I was informed it could be returned if tried out with clothes on, which was important to know how the moving parts work. Great product!

Just purchased and wanted to make a few initial comments. I will post again once we've lived with it for a while. The product seems very well made. I must admit, my heart sank a little when I opened the box to see it all disassembled. (I'm used to receiving items either fully assembled, or almost assembled, and the number of pieces was overwhelming.) But, with a quick look, and a snap-snap-snap -- all the pieces came together very quickly, and we had it in the shower within an hour of getting it in the door -- and that included getting all the components out of the box and out of the secure wrapping! ; ) Initial impressions: very impressed with its solid nature; swivel/transfer seat also appears very sturdy; cushion bottom is great for comfort, and will allow water to pass through. Adjust simply and easily. I am very pleased to have purchased this product, given that many online health and mobility devices are often a "hit or miss". This one is superb for: easy assembly, ease of adjustment, ease of use. Who could ask for more? When one is mobility challenged, one is always looking for something to make things a little easier. This one hit it out of the park!

At first I was reluctant to buy this from Amazon.ca suspicting that it would be of poor qualit: but I thought I would take a chance. Well, all doubts were proven wrong ... this is a sturdy, good quality product ... I am very pleased. I would advise that anyone buy this product in spite of any reluctance.
